"Okay, here we go. Focus. Speed. I am speed. One winner, forty-two losers. I eat losers for breakfast. Breakfast? Maybe I should have had breakfast? Brekkie could be good for me. No, no, no, focus. Speed. Faster than fast, quicker than quick. I am Lightning."

Life isn't a race. Life isn't a turn of a track with a winner and a runner up. Life isn't a checkered flag moment that ranks the best of the best. Wait.... maybe it is. Maybe life is that revolving track, with a pit crew and an audience cheering you on. Maybe life is defined by a winner and a runner up. Perhaps maybe, the race is to to pass your opponent and gain positioning on a challenge defined as someones goal.
Life does move pretty fast. I remember Ferris Bueller said that if you don't stop to look around once in awhile it might pass you.
So, we must realize that our only opponent is really "time". Our only opponent is sometimes our own insecurities. Even though I have met many confident folks, I do see that even the most secure individual has their own stipulations. That individual still needs a strong engine, sturdy tires and a shiny coat of paint to feel "game", and up for a race.
Can we relate cars to humans? Can we relate humans to cars?
The race to the finish line is often not about the sprint, it is essentially about the marathon. The wind between the hair, a deep breath of endurance, and the feet on the pavement accomplishment.
A car race is a challenge of will and power and control. Entertainment is provided as we see the turns of the wheels and burning rubber fill the air. We see the desire in the drivers eyes and feel the happiness from their souls. Life can be a car race when its needed and when its necessary.
But, we shouldn't seek the finish line all the time, we should enjoy the ride and count our laps as more than just a gain in position, but, as a lesson learned and road easily traveled.
