Okay, I tried to resist, but I got a friendly encouraging nudge, and decided to jump in. Here is my list which I am submitting probably against my better judgement.
1. I have a diabetic black cat with dander problems named Edgar A. Poe.
2. I know all the words to every song from the musical Hair, and am particularly fond of singing "Frank Mills".
3. Also love the musical movie Oliver! due to a crush I developed on the Artful Dodger (Jack Wild) at the age of five. Still love every greasy scene.
4. Spent a summer working in a necktie factory.
5. Spent a summer living in the same deactivated fraternity/rooming house in Boulder, CO that my father had lived in for a summer thirty years earlier.
6. Was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight while cashiering at a neighborhood hardware store.
7. Paradoxically believe that things happen for a reason, but that most events occur at random.(see # 6)
8. Spent some time working as a cashier in a truck stop somewhere in the southwest where I mixed drinks behind the counter from my private minibar.
9. Am a skilled rueben sandwich maker.
10. Really miss the mountains.
11. I like people, but am socially anxious and hate crowds.
12. Don't remember much of my twenties.
13. Spent a year in Iowa City fantasizing about getting into the writer's workshop (as if!), while working as a hospital housekeeper.
14. Love Tennessee Williams plays.
15. Am still surprised by how much joy my husband and children bring to my life.
16. Feel like I was born about 20 years too late - I wanted to come of age in the 60's.
17. My favorite college class was a Thoreau, Emerson, and Whitman seminar.
18. Have volunteered on a crisis hotline.
19. Once moved 800 miles on one hundred dollars.
20. One time I lost my purse in the St. Louis airport at Christmas time and had it returned with all my money and plane tickets.
21. I believe in the kindness of strangers (see #20)
22. I love Gerber daisies and peonies.
23. Don't watch much TV, but am crazy about medical mystery shows and Masterpiece Theatre.
24. Am never bored, but am afraid others may consider me boring.
25. Have great faith in individuals, but none in institutions.
Okay, phew, that was tough. Hard to do one of these without comparing your list to others. Kind of stirs up those feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt, particularly on a site like this where everyone is so articulate and interesting. Anyway - deep breath - here it goes.

Most people are basically good. Great post! rated!

Also, I left my purse on the bus one morning. Why I had $400 in cash--my rent money--in it I don't know. A woman who saw me everyday picked it up and called all the people in my address book until she found me. There are good people in this world.
Thanks for sharing your list. It's fun.
Thanks for opening up.
We could be good friends.
Monte, you already have item one for your list; expound on chicken-ness.
but fortunately my m-i-l owns a flower shop and will indulge me occasionally:)
And, W/out a Paddle - I had forgotten all about HR Puffinstuff - you're right - Wild was on that show too. That was one weird show from what I recall! Glad you got your purse back, too. Another affirmation of #21!
Rjaxn - you know my husband's friends frequently request my reuben sandwiches - this may be my most useful social skill!
Nanate, Shiral, and Cartouche - appreciate your taking time to stop and read! (And Nanate - thanks for the push - to think I almost missed the boat on this little exercise!)
Jimmy - you made me laugh - that would probably be the worst possible hell for a couple of my friends as well.
See you around.
Monique, MB, and Junk1 - appreciate your comments! I'm getting an idea here. Maybe we could have a small (uncrowded) OS support group for people who suffer from social anxiety and/or the fear of being boring. I could cook some ruebens and we could have lots of peonies and bright gerber daisies around! Who's in?
