A little thanks for my OS friends (with peony and chickens)

Rate: 15 Flag

Photo-peony

Just wanted to thank everyone for their kind comments and encouraging words on my last post. The past week without my daily dose of OS has been sheer hell. All those horror stories you all mentioned - the pink elephants - the delirium - it's all true I tell you! I would try to study, and find my mind wandering back to the darn two truths and a lie meme - did Lea really date a murderer? Did OE Sheepdog really eat breakfast with Bill Clinton?  Then I would start thinking of things to post about, and before I realized it, an hour had passed with nary a thought of studies.  If anyone has some spare OS methadone, please PM me so that next time I take a leave I will be prepared!  Thankfully I finished my last test today, and hope never to have to do another streak plate or gram stain again.  I came home from my exam to find all the peonies in bloom and celebrating with me. This is a picture of one of them from my cell phone.

(***Update - technical difficulties are apparently preventing MY picture from appearing, so I tried to substitute w/a jpg that looked similar. However, then I couldn't delete my original pic, and now this post is a bit of a motley mess. I apologize. My peony bush is beautiful right now - I'm disappointed not to be able to figure out how to get the pic up correctly. Maybe next time!***)

Now for the chickens - couldn't resist sharing this from Doug Savage's awesome site. For all teachers and students still plugging away - this one is for you:

So good you are back! we told you it would be hard, hehe! I laughed with the chickens, but I can´t see the peonies on the post... rated for returning!
I'm so excited you're back!! As a teacher, I know the first thing students ask when they return from being absent: "Did we do anything yesterday?" Better yet, a really sick kid who was out for a long spell: "Did we do anything last week?"

So, diva, I know you want to know and the answer is No. We didn't do a damn thing without you. The whole place shut down and we just waited you out...

:)
Welcome back! The methadone's in the mail.
Welcome back! It's hard to be away, isn't it?!
Welcome back! But where are the peonies?
Welcome back! Hope you did well and it's a long time before you or I either one have to take any more tests. I've been gone meself, with a broken leg/ankle combo. I can't get around to reading what I want to read before the pain meds kick in!!!
So good to have you back. I laughed with the farm animals. Glad ot have you back. Don't ask me any questions, because I know nothing.
Marcela - thank you - and I can't say you didn't warn me. I tried to fix the picture, but couldn't get my photo to appear. The new jpg is a close approximation.

Lainey - you knew just the words I needed to hear, didn't you? I'm glad to know nobody had any fun while I was gone, and am reassured by the presence of good old "Pit Bulls in Spamalot" in its rightful place ;p

Thanks Steve - wish I had thought to order that a week ago!

Michael - appreciate it! I have some haikus to catch up on, I see!

Voicegal - sorry my picture didn't turn out. I still have my technochallenges to overcome.

Brenda - thankee! Yikes - a broken leg and ankle!? Sounds like you have some good pain meds, but OUCH. Hope you are on the mend!

Fireeyes - glad you enjoyed the chickens. They amuse me far more than I should probably admit.
I used to have chickens and they used to amuse me more then I still care to admit. You take care and don't bed gone long. I will miss you.

wecome back. Geat to see you back in your usual place.
thanks for the peonies and chickens diva, and congrats on getting through the semester.
What a lucky girl you are to be over your tests and have a peony in full bloom! My favorite flower.
Thank you.
Fireeyes - so you had living chickens? I bet there is a post or two in that experience! I've been lobbying for a goat, but there's some pesky city ordinance that won't allow it.

Thanks, jon - I'm certainly happy to be back and browsing free of guilt!

Nanate - thanks for stopping by. Are your classes wrapping up? I thought about posting a video of Alice Cooper's "School's Out for Summer" instead of the chickens, but the peony pic was enough technical challenge for one day.

LHL - I am feeling lucky today. Glad you appreciated the peonies - they are my favorite flower as well, closely followed by Gerber daisies.

Now that remins me of a story, a true story.

A colleague kept a couple of goats. The goats could produce 6 or 7 pints of milk a day, and they could make dairy produce from that. They were very business like, and kept a record of expenses, and noted how much they would have spent if they had bought the milk etc. After a time, they took one from the other considering that to be their profit and bought a luxury they would not have got otherwise.

I visited one time and listned as they spoke of their children. Then, I needed to leave the room and on my return was unaware that the subject had changed from children to goats.

I returned as they were saying, "We had financial troubles, but WE SOLD THE KIDS AND THAT SOLVED ALL THE PROBLEMS!!!!!!

Watch your children folks.
Jon - LOL! Appreciate your sharing that. What a funny story - the perfect setup for a comedy of errors.
Ha! I always wondered what those train questions were about. Welcome back.
Great to see a post from you again my Okie friend. Does this mean we're in for some more?

Time to go find some of that wild weed that grows all over Oklahoma. Probably not the best, but hey, it's free :-)
Beautiful peony! Frilled feathery petals, half-furled, half-unfurled. Gorgeous color, too!
Welcome, back Teach. You've got to celebrate a little at the end of the semester and school year. I ordered you a Mexican Martini. Enjoy! Oh yeah, I laughed at "CS", but I do prefer pork sausage.
Rated & Cheers!
Happy to make your acquaintance through your most recent posts, and congratulations on finishing your last rounds of tests! Funny final comic - loved your comment, too, Lainey... going to share it with some teachers.
Thanks for stopping by, annette - glad you got a kick out of the cartoon.
Sorry I missed this Diva! I was wondering how you were... hope all is well and glad to hear you're done with your streak plates and gram stains... for now at least! hehehehehehe... love the chickens and the peony is gorgeous...:)
Thanks, s.m. - all is well indeed. You have no idea how glad I am to be done with that stinkin' class;)
