A lot of weighty and depressing topics being discussed today. Thought I would share one of my favorite quotes by a fellow Oklahoman today:

"Things will continue to get better despite our efforts at improving them"     Will Rogers

That's all folks - you may return to regularly scheduled programming now;)

Fabulous Quote! Thank you
Thanks FE - I almost put up my other favorite quote:
"The only thing I can say about the senate is it opens with a prayer and closes with an investigation", but I thought the other one was more appropriate today.
A great quote from an great mind!
I wish I had the kind of mind to remember quotations, b/c this is one I'd like to throw around once in a while. But I haven't that mind. Darn.
hee hee I lOvE Will Rogers!
Mr M - glad you liked it. Will Rogers had a great wit, and is often overlooked today.

Lainey - good to see you. I seem to remember quotes pretty easily, but the downside is that I often feel like I don't have an original thought in my head.

Trig - glad you got a laugh.
Thank you for this simple message. Pretty easy to get caught up in all the negativity. This kind of shakes it loose!

I subscribe to savage chickens, too!
I love Will Rogers though he spells his last name funny. Although a bit before my time, my mother would often quote his timeless way of looking at life.
You should do a whole post on his quotes. I'm sure there are many that would strike a nerve during today's multi crisis, nonstop news cycles.
That's all and it was enough, the perfect quote for our times. Thanks.
NFJ -thanks. It is all too easy to get overwhelmed by gloom and doom messages - sometimes I just have to step back from it all. Savage Chickens is part of my daily therapy - good to meet another fan:)

Michael - thanks for coming by! Maybe I will do a post of his sayings one of these days. Many of them are as true today as they were in his day.

JK - thank you. Just thought I'd try to lighten the mood for a moment if I could.
Latething - apologies for missing you yesterday. Thanks for taking time to drop by.
But you are part of my regularly scheduled programming.
Hey there my Okie friend! You done with school yet?

I've always loved Will's quotes. I think it would have been beyond cool to have actually known the man.
A belated thanks to Steve for stopping by, and to you Boomer Bob! Good to see you. Yes, school is over thank goodness - don't think my mind has quite recovered yet, though. Have to agree it would have been great to know W. Rogers personally - he had such wit.
What about, "The floggings will continue until morale improves."? I know it's not WR. Oh yeah, I like his airport, too.
Rated & Cheers!
Texas - I will have to remember that to use with my children this summer;)
If only we would pay attention. America isn't broke, we are.
I like this one too: "Never complain about growing old. Some people are denied the privilege."
