For my OS friends: "It's Hard"

Rate: 18 Flag
Haven't posted in a while, or been around as much as I'd like lately. School and daily life stressors (work, sick kids, unemployed spouse) have left me with little time and energy for writing. I know I'm not the only one around here who has been feeling pinched lately, so thought I would share one of my favorite songs with you all.  This isn't the greatest video, but hey- I finally figured out how to embed a video - no small feat for me -  so here it is. Enjoy - (and spend an extra moment appreciating Pete Townshend's fine nose!)
"It's Hard"
Any tough can fight - few can play
Any fool can fall - few can lay
Any stud can reproduce - few can please
Anyone can pay - few can lease

It's hard
(It's a hard hard hand to hold
It's a hard land to control)

Any man can claim - few can find
Any girl can blink - few can lie
Anyone can promise - few can raise
Anyone can try - but a few can stay

Any brain can hide - few can stand
Any kid can fly - few can land
Any gang can scatter - few can form
Any kid can chatter - few can inform

It's hard - It's very very very very hard - so very hard

It's hard
(It's a hard hard hand to hold
It's a hard land to control)

Any soul can sleep - few can die
Any wimp can weep - few can cry
Everyone complains - few can state
Anyone can stop - few can wait

It's hard - It's very very very very hard - so hard

Anyone can do anything if they hold the right card
So I'm thinking about my life now
I'm thinking very hard
Deal me another hand Lord, this one's very hard
Deal me another hand Lord, this one's very hard

This is one of my fav songs also. Someday I might write about the time I met John Entwistle. ~R~
Hey Chuck - I think that would be a most excellent post!
It's good to hear from you Diva! But how dare you let things like "having a life" or "work" or "family" get in the way of your blogging? I am OUTraged:P
Townshend playing a telecaster? Wow. He's usually a straight up strat guy. His nose is classic though isn't it!
It IS hard isn't it Diva... I know.
Great song! I understand how life can get in the way of our fun time on OS. Been missing ya. and hope to see ya back in the swing of things on OS soon.
Hi nanate - you're right. I've got to reprioritize and get OS back on top where it belongs! If only I didn't need sleep, darn it >:(

Trig - caught that did you? Thanks for stopping by - somehow it makes it easier knowing we are not alone in the mess of things right now.

Thanks, fireeyes - so good to see you. Been wondering how you were doing - hopefully I'll have a spell one of these days to do nothing but read and catch up on things around here.
I always like it when you are out and about. But I also get how life gets in the way! (wish I did not get that...)
great song! you've got a shitload of stuff on your plate, girl. but writing about it gets it out and away from you. so please come and blow off some steam regularly. many OSers are struggling. hard. love love love and gratitude
I have missed you Diva! I just dropped in for a moment. It's good to see you :)
Love the Who, thank you for this blast from past this morning, Ineeded to wake up.r
Many here compare OS to a tavern, except no one proclaims "Last Call." Folks come and go as they please. I kind of dig that. Nice when someone stops in, they know to play the cool stuff on the jukebox. I think I saw that tour, the first one after Moon died.
I saw the title of this and was secretly hoping that there would be a man involved. Sulks in corner... Life can be demanding. Don't let this place be.
I'm sorry you're going through such rough times. Things will get better! Thanks for the post.
Well hell, Ms diva. It's great to hear from you again. Sounds like you're a tad busy. You still enjoying your new career?

Remember - don't let the docs and the politics in the hospitals get to you. They'll surely try, but the patients are what matter.
Great Post and a great song. And it is "so hard"!
R~~
Hi, Diva; thanks for the music!
Kisses,
Marcela
Aww thanks mypsyche - always enjoy seeing you as well.

Theo - so true - writing can be very healing. I know things are tough for a lot of OSers right now, and I love that we can share about it and find support here. I also appreciate that you always remember to share love and gratitude - so very important to hold onto. Blessings to you!

Hi screamin' - still got my fingers crossed for your job prospect!

Thanks, Rita - The Who always gets my blood pumping as well.

Jimmymac - I really like that analogy. A lot. You saw The Who in 82? I hope you remember more of your experience than I did of mine in 89. I vaguely recall an intense fusion of light and sound, and getting stoned with a security guard. Sigh.
O'Really - sorry to disappoint, but don't sulk - you made me laugh - thank you!

Patricia - appreciate the encouraging words. I'm an optimist at heart, but sometimes I get overwhelmed, and need to be reminded that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Bob! I may be busy, but I am enjoying my work, and hopefully will graduate eventually. Fortunately during my shift I get to stay away from docs and hospital politics - a definite plus!

Scanner - glad you enjoyed the song. Sometimes just acknowledging how hard it can be is helpful. Thanks for stopping by!

Marcela - it still amazes me that through OS (and the internet) we can share with people around the world. So good to see you!
What a great video. Thanks for sharing it. I love Roger Daltrey and Peter Townsend. I saw them live a couple years back in Portland. Amazing concert. This 1982 video inspired me.
Dave - thanks for visiting - happy you enjoyed the video. The Who just has an energy that always brings me up. They came to our state in recent memory - perhaps the same tour you saw. I heard it was a phenomenal show.
Hang in there, dbd. The new year will be a better one, we all hope.
