Hi Salon people.  I have been gone so long and out of circulation for a little while here.  both my mother and father passed recently... both in early 90s..so had long lives.  I decided to work on a new book to let the tension in me pass.  Here it is.  I'll be back soon.  I couldn't remember my password!

Baby Moonlight,Book I,Mended Circle Saga.http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007P5PL70 #cajunculture #africanamericanhistory 1.99 #kindle

The Mended Circle Saga traces seven generations born of Philo Marie Sonnier, a deranged and brutal Confederate soldier and an unknown black woman. The time span of the novel is from the Civil War to the present. America is character, as each generation lives in a different place and time.

Baby Moonlight is found abandoned on the banks of the bayou. Raised in the slave quarters of the planatation Jewelweed, Moonlight learns how to take advantage of the breakup of the plantation system after the Civil War. She marries a wealthy white landowner, (the son of the plantation owner upon whose land she grew up a slave orphan) starts a school for young children, and writes the first primer for children of former slaves.

Very sorry for your loss. Nice to see you back, though, and with a new project.
Welcome back. Intriguing book idea too. I hope the words bring you peace.
I echo the sympathy for your loss. The passing of parents is a transition, regardless of their age. New book looks good!
So sorry for your loss, and so close together. Sometimes the pain is a blessing.

My grandmother and grandfather passed on the same day. My grandfather found my grandmother and ran to the firestation next door.
When the man came in, my grandmother had passed.
He went to tell my grandfather and my grandpa said "If she is dead, I don't want to live...he died right there and then.

The coroners report said he died of a broken heart.

It's odd, but as it goes, several of us chose the beginning of this year for a haitus. And now I am back...hopefully we will see you again soon!
