From Wordpress to Salon

Rate: 0 Flag

I've been using my Wordpress blog, The Femmenist, for awhile now, but I'm curious about Salon's blog platform.  There's just something really amazing about the thought "I'm writing on the same website that Camille Paglia writes on."

I'm going to be bringing a few of my articles from The Femmenist over to this platform, and cross-posting any new work I do to both until I know which suits me better.

Thank you for the welcome! I admit, the large community at Salon definitely influenced my decision to start a blog here!

I'm still getting used to the differences in the two, the picture embed style is different and this is more of a "column" format whereas my WP blog was in "article" form, but getting a comment 5 minutes after posting just blows my mind!
One thing I have been wondering about with Open Salon is can we export our posts here should we decide to move?

Also I have found that a tool like Windows Live Writer can be very useful and while it works with most blogging services it doesn't seem to work here.

I do realize that the community is an attraction here, however having been through having lost content when a site closed down I do think it is important to be able to save what I post here in a form that can easily be moved elsewhere.
I'm looking forward to seeing your articles. I have a Wordpress blog, as well, and just started on here a few days ago. There definitely seems to be more responses and better traffic over the short-term here versus my blog. I think keeping both going is a good idea.
