Linda now blogs Monday to Friday ON THIS SITE.

My photos can be SEEN HERE

When a ride on a Ferris Wheel was better than spending hours on the internet.

When a slice of pie was better than Tiramisu or a container of Yogurt.

When a walk around the block or watching Jack LaLaine was better than Yoga or Pilates.

When not one person knew what Star Wars or a Geek was.

When no one recycled.

When the only Vampires were Vlad the Impaler and Nosferatu.

When a size 8 was really a size 8!

When no one really fought the grey or the wrinkles and aged gracefully.

When  people relaxed more and did not have to spend their days running around.

When no one knew what Vintage was.

When everyone did not insist on having things like everyone else.

When Mothers stayed at home.

When everyone did not need their egos stroked to feel better about themselves.

When there was no 9/11

When Amy Winehouse was still alive.

When a dog was just a dog and you taught them tricks and not about fashion.

When people thought for themselves and did not listen to the talking heads.

When people loved their neighbour.

When people hid their Holiday Hangovers.

When people listened to radios and did not download everything for free.

When China was well... just China.

When people were not going hungry.

When the world was not so upside down.

When we formed our own ideas and stuck to them.

When we didn't have to 'Occupy'.

                                 Do you remember the time?

As always, your post expresses your unique and heartfelt view of life. May you have the greatest of New Years, my friend.
I remember, except it wasn't that great back then either for lots of folks. I think we're just born to make the best of our times in the best way we can and keep on moving! Happy New Year!
Sentimental and sad, but true.

wimmin in miniskirt horrifying armor coming at men.

too bad.

they got what they deserved.

occupation is the key word. for your personal universe.

occupy yourself, your Self, and
then ya got the universe.

til then, just more imperialism.

Can I see another's woe,
And not be in sorrow too?
Can I see another's grief,
And not seek for kind relief?
On Another's Sorrow, st. 1...blake.

sure ya can, blake. be numbed out. be an american man.
James we have to learn how to occupy ourselves before we move on to others.

LEAPIN SUCCOTASH.. Thank you!!
Lovely post. Happy New Year!
You bring back a lot of good memories!

Dearest Linda .... Happy, Happy New Year! May it be a very good year indeed.
thanks witchy and
LOVE TO YOU KATE FOR 2012
I do remember most here; some affection, some not. Thank God people started recycling for instance. People have always been hungry (somewhere) and I wouldn't trade yoga (or yogurt) for Jack LaLaine anyday. It would seem Vlad and Nosferatu would fit right in to our blood sucking culture ...

I liked this one: "When everyone did not insist on having things [or being - my addition] like everyone else." Somewhere along the way originality got traded for homogeneity. Darn!

Great photos and Happy New Year, Linda.
Thanks Scarlett.. Happy New Year to you.. Originality is king.. lets stay that way.
HUGGGGGGGGGGG
How the f did I miss this?

Loved it all and relate very much to the nostalgia. Yes, when we didn't have to school dogs in fashion. Ha China was just... China.

This was masterful, Linda. Off I go to read it again.
Happy new Year Ms Fernsy
HUGGGGGGGGGG
What joy to see you back Linda...for good I hope? All the best for 2012.
No Ms Walrond.. just a pop in..:)
HUGGGGGGGGGGGGgg

I remember! Happy 2012.
I remember those times, well, most of them. Happy New Year, Linda!
P.S. Fine photos, my dear.
Thanks Alysa HUGGGGGG
Happy 2012 Chrissie
Hugggg Erica
I remember; your photos are splendid and so unusual.
Great photos- and thought provoking.
Glad to see you back on OS. I have not posted since May when I switched from PC to a Mac which seemed to totally screw up the OS Tech Team. So, I got frustrated and..........wandered off.
gerald I still bog every day but only come on here when I really have a lot to say.. like today hahah
I'm not so sure that all these things existed, at least in an idealized way, or that the past was always necessarily better, but I too have some of my own "remember when" moments. Still, I'm glad you remember to come back to OS and post from time to time. Happy New Year, Linda!
Thanks Various and I appreciate you stopping by.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
