Hi all! As Kerry just announced, I'll been taking over Judy Berman's post as Open Salon editor. Open Salon has been on my radar for some time and I've been incredibly impressed with the amazing content here. I often wish that I'd begun my first -- now defunct -- blog on Open (That initial effort eventually died a slow death after catering to a small -- but dedicated! -- readership of approximately four).
Now that I've joined OS, I'll be posting here fairly often -- letting you guys know about new Open calls, announcing each week's Kitchen Challenge winner, and musing about my various interests (politics, culture, baseball, throttling pharmabots on Open, etc).
Please feel free to message me with any questions about or suggestions for Open. I'm absolutely thrilled to be here as the new editor and I look forward to getting to know all of you (and your writing!) better in the coming weeks and months.

It's a brutal task, keeping things moving here. Everybody is a cook in the crowded kitchen that is Open Salon. A lot of people get burned. Some of them complain vociferously. Sometimes I'm a complainer.
But pay little mind to us crabsters. I just ask that you do what you can to keep things interesting and fresh on Open Salon.

Suggestion:
Get a spam filter to keep the advert-lopers from using the comments section for their sprawling ads!
The whole "tutchy feely" thingy is nice but at times you might feel like puting up a high fence to "keep onlookers away"
Just two "hopes":
That you can keep those annoying spam/ads off the comments pages
That you or your "assistant" can continue to monitor Open Salon during the weekend, too. (Editor's Favorites, Front Page, etc.)
