It's nice to focus on the sweeter and lighter aspects of the season, but the holidays have a darker side as well: They're stressful, they're expensive and they can be incredibly lonely. Over on big Salon tonight, we're running a short story from the collection "Blue Christmas: Holiday Stories for the Rest of Us" that captures that heartbreaking sense of malaise. And we want to read about your painful and poignant holiday experiences.
Be sure to tag your posts "my blue holiday," and blog them by Wednesday, December 21st at 10 AM EST. We'll feature our favorites on a special OS holiday cover and we're hoping to cross-post a few on Salon as well.

Good night
I wish you would keep up the heartwarming call for December as well.
Last year was the 'everything was horrible' open call.
Everything is horrible enough without reading more.
I do a lot of expressing my thoughts, feelings and opinions, as well as defending myself when I feel a professor has crossed the line with me.
The school says the professors have the right to grade/say/tell you want to do. I' m supposed to learn how to accept it and go with the flow. Thats how we get along, and that I must learn to deal with difficult people.
I feel that this is a double standard, and it's unfair. What happened to free speech, where are my rights in this?
I have a meeting in a few days with the dean of students, and I plan to admit I'm guilty, and that I take responsibility for my actions, and I admit what I did was wrong.
I will do this so I can stay in school until I can graduate. I
