I finally have a blog on OpenSalon!
It sure took me long enough to get here. Two months ago I was turned onto OpenSalon by a friend, and I love the articles and other blogs that get posted here. But I have been met with untold difficulty in signing up for an account. Apparently, the image verification system was not appearing on the sign up page and I needed to simply go through a couple more steps to get that verification system to work.
I think the IT guys at O.S. need to rectify this soon or there will be more frustrated wanna-be bloggers out there.
Well, with that off my back, I am very excited to join this community. First and foremost, I'm gonna put it out there, I'm a liberal. Call me in the tank for Obama if you want, say I'm drinking the Kool-Aid, whatever. I have been following Obama's career since his beginning in Illinois state legislature and since then I have and probably always will admire the man. I don't always agree with everything he says and does but for the most part I think his policies are in line with what's good for America.
That being said, don't count me in just for the Dems. I have always been willing to follow a Republican candidate if his policies make sense to me. I like Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee, for instance. And I even liked McCaine for the 2000 primaries.
So, with all that said, will this blog be political? Not always. I follow politics but I am interested in much more than that. I have a Bachelor in Science for Theatre/Directing from Illinois State University, my original major way back when I started in '98 was English Education. I enjoy and appreciate anything artistic, especially music, the art of filmmaking, Theatre, and dance.
I love to cook. Cooking and recipes are one thing that, were I not involved in Theatre/film arts as my primary career of choice, and were politics not my secondary pursuit, cooking would be it. So occasionally I'll trade a recipe or talk about some wing-ding quickie thing I came up with on my own.
Thank God for the internet. If this wasn't available to me as I am stuck here in Bloomington/Normal (hence the title of this blog), I might just do something drastic. I know this is an old tune, but, it's boring here! Hopefully, soon I can find a theatrical job in Chicago or New York, or even - God willing - find an agent and sell one of my screenplays, and get far away from here. And when I get there, I won't even have to change the title of my blog.
