These are really beautiful. I love seeing your work. Your pieces have both beauty and function: they're not designed to sit on a shelf behind glass, but at the same time, they are artistic enough to inspire devoted collectors. I also think you've made great use of that black/red glaze. It tends not to be one of my favorites, but here it looks great.
Oh my word! These are just astonishing! Brava!
Thank you! I am proud of these. They were a long time in the designing and making. They are blue on the inside.
I especially love Kracken; as a set they are just stunning
These are wonderful. Thank you!
It is funny how even in the pottery world, the chase is to be edgy.
My work is not edgy, but I try to make it beautiful.

I think the world has plenty of edge and not enough beauty.
Edgy gets old. And boring. Beauty does not.
e, I shan't try to paint the lily or gild pure gold (as someone once said, I forget who), those beakers, each and every one, are just flat-out beautiful.

I extend my heartfelt jealousy.
I live on the east coast. I don't need anymore "edge" in my life. In fact, I go to great lengths to minimize it now.

But there's always room and a need for something beautiful enough to feed one's soul even via cyberspace. And these do that. I can only imagine the impact they would have in person. So glad that they're blue on the inside.

Much harder to pick a favorite this time... not that you asked. But if I had to choose only one, it would probably be the wave. But I really love them all.
The Wave is an homage to another work, The Great Wave at Kanagawa.

It has haunted me until I finally got it out of my system with that piece of pottery.
The other images are about where I live an come from inside my own head.

In person, for me at least, they make you want to hold them and rub your fingers across the images. They are embossed high bas relief.
Wow. Those are beautiful.
Thanks to everybody. I had the stomach willies when I put these up. It's funny how you get shy when you care about the work.

I know that red and black are not popular colors, but they can be the right thing. In the wrong hands and on the wrong pots, they are garish and harsh. These are close enough in hue that I think they merge better. In person, the interior of deep blue is more prominent.

Do you make pots, John? Jealous almost sounds like you do this kind of work. Fess up! Are you a potter?
Elizabeth: I've seen that wave before; maybe that's why I reacted a bit more to your wave.
Gorgeous! The wave, definitely the wave. ...

Oh, sorry, have been sitting here lost in the beauty of what you're wrought, and with your own hands. Wow. Pushing the Post this comment button now...
The Sea Turtle is beautiful.
That sea turtle is a Kemps Ridley that I sketched over at our Aquarium. They had babies in a tank and I drew them until I understood them. You usually see the armor side of turtles, but I like the soft undresides the best.
beautiful and utterly unique!
Yep, you have the gift. I love these. I am partial to the jellyfish myself and if I were not at the moment a bit too financially strapped, I would buy it. But please keep showing us your wares and letting us know if they are for sale. One of these days I WILL buy one. I have coveted too many--I know that eventually I will take that big jar of change to the bank and well, it is my "treat myself to something" money :)
OMG- the jellyfish! the jellyfish! Wheeee!
Those are SO cool!
