There is something about the "alien-ness" of seafood that makes me NOT want to eat it. Especially Octopus.
And I am aware of its deliciousness in butter. I just can't help but wonder if I don't need more information before I eat that.
On the other hand, why would it be so tasty if we weren't meant to eat it. And certainly, if the shoe were on the other foot, so to speak, I am sure I would be first on the menu.
that's an amazing crawdad! or, you know, lobster or what have you, but regardless the color IS amazing. rated for reminding me how surreal nature can be.
I am perpetually freaked out and agog whenever I go to the aquarium. The least of which imponderables to ponder is how come the 4 sharks in the natural reef don't ever go rogue and just bite everything in there...
Your haiku just made me smile. (That's good!) Loved the photo.
I was reminded of when I was a young'un and made a real gaffe: Now, I'm a prairie gal, born and raised. This was the 1st time I was at an amazing west coast island. The shoreline was so clear, I could see the most vivid fuschia-coloured starfish. Ignorant in my prairie-ness, I just never thought of starfish as living things. I took one back with me and tried to air-dry it... but the colour began to fade. So I phoned an aquarium and asked them how to do it, lol. What I got was a lecture about how this was a living creature, and I shouldn't have taken it.
Sea creatures fascinate me too! There could be no alien from another planet that looked any weirder than what we have here in our oceans. I also think jelly fish are incredibly cool - although not to be stung by. Nice Haiku.
