Ode to a good OS friend...

Rate: 21 Flag

Deven sent me a gift!

Taking pity on a cell phone haiga artist, she sent me a camera!

This is an ode to a good friend...

who knows two

Only seen as dried pods in late season before.

Spider web, new briar, and last years remains.

Quince blossom, exhausted.

Quince blossom with water collected.

On the way on to the island where Jeff works.

I never knew how pink my backyard was!

Now I feel inspired to go forth and haiga!

And to paint!

Thank you, Deven!

Agree - these are lovely and Devon rocks!
YAY! You deserved a better camera. Now you can get all obsessed.
She is officially a patron of the arts. As I intend to art all over the place with this camera!

I could not justify it for myself, but I am wildly excited to have it and use it. I am banking the pictures for haiga...that briar and spiderweb has me thinking...
Beautiful! What a great present- and it's in good hands.
Deven has a heart of gold...she's lovely... and so are these images E. beautiful photos.
Patron of the arts, indeed!!!

I like the briar the best.

(thumbified for photography and good friends)
I was trying to frugally man up and make do with the cell phone camera and tell myself that it was fine and it was really a challenge and that a "real" artist did not need a stinking fancy pants camera to make super macro pictures of things that capture my myopia as part of my art....

But I am wicked excited about revisiting some pictures that I took that were less than they could/should have been.

The last 65 haiga of the 365 will include revisions and paintings instead of photographs. I was ready to jump the gun and start painting, as I was actually frustrated with my camera. But I have a new wind on the images!

There have been several times in my life when people I knew spontaneously helped me more than they could have realized at the time. And I am grateful for that.

There, I said it!
Beautiful! And Deven is pretty damned awesome.
I have this digital beast that I use for professional pottery pictures, but it is cumbersome and I fear breaking it.

This camera slips into my pocket, and has better resolution than the behemoth, which is about 4 years old!

I keep looking at botanical and biological subjects and seeing paintings, but capturing them on the fly is important. SO having one that slips into my pocket is very important.

I used to carry a sketchbook, but that was before I rolled with a 4 year old. There is only time to glimpse the beauty as you keep moving with him along. I will take him sketching this summer, but til there are lazy days to while away under the overpass, it is rushing to stand still.

Did you see the missing one in the first picture? Or the dragon in the one with the droplets?
Kudos to the photographer and the gift giver.
ahhhhh. Beautiful.
Deven is. You can use any congratulatory word you like, and she is it. She gives good karma. :-D

Nice work, Elizabeth. Those shots are marvelous. Go forth and photograph.

Thumbed for Devenism.
YAY DEVEN! And yay, ePriddy! Looking forward to lots and lots of pictures!
Oh, the places you'll go, the things you'll see, and now we will see them too. Yay Deven! To creative goddesses, their enablers, and the spring that had finally arrived in our little corner of the world. Go forth and Artify, ePriddy. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
these pictures have such a delicate yet strong and powerful femininity.
OMG!
Look who showed up....

of course, the old cell phone cannot do her justice....
Thank you for your kind remarks on the photos. My efforts in photography have always been a means to an end, for pottery work or pictures of the boy for scrapbooks.

I am realizing some possibilities and I cannot help but re-iterate that I am really excited!
::gasp:: MY BABIES! MY BABIES!

::gasp gasp:: MY CAMERA! MY CAMERA!

The ape is so fired!
Ha ha ha ha ha! I have your camera!!!
...and your little babies, too....
Yeah, Deven! And yeah, Elizabeth! I am not at all surprised to see what beautiful work you are doing with the real camera.
Deven is officially a patroness of the arts. Freaky should feel glad to have a few of those 100 trollettes off her hands, keep 'em I say, if they misbehave make them walk the plank.

Looking forward to seeing more great photos, you're a talented lady with a great eye for picture.
that's a hella hella gift that we all get to enjoy!

no wonder freaky is jealousing.
Wow. And Deven took beautiful photos of city sidewalks, boarded up houses, politico's sweeping drug infested allies to insure future investments.
More money.
More money.
More money.

Friendship is the best thing in the world ... that and good haiga :)
The water droplets were a direct homage to Deven, who is a fine art photographer. Her macro botanical work is astounding.

Did I mention that she is awesome?
I linked to her photography on the left here
