I'm ashamed

that a minority government, voted for by only about 35% of the 65% of us who bothered to vote in the last federal election, are spending more than a billion of our tax dollars pandering to the G8, G20, and the slavering media hounds who lick their Armani shoes.

that religious-right-nutbar ideology is being used to justify withholding of funding from organizations from groups they don't approve of, including women, gays, working poor...and that they would withhold access to safe abortion as a component of international funding for the health of women and children.

What on earth has happened to Canada? We've become the laughing-stock of the world, that's what.

It's called c.R.a.p.

We'd be the laughing stock if anyone noticed...

I wish whatzisname, the repatriated American there, would be more in the public eye so there would be a chance of a change in government...
Problem is, there are too many "wossname"s in Canadian federal politics, & not one sign of someone with leadership qualities.
Thanks for pointing that out. I was away for the last three weeks and haven't kept up with the Canadian news. I did know however that Harper cut the funding for international organizations that promote or perform abortions among others.
This may look like small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, compared to things like the Gulf disaster & the imploding Middle East, but I think it's important both on a national & international basis. Why on earth can't the G8/G20 meet by videoconference anyway? It's all about photo-ops & shilling for the media. Total waste of time & money all around, & for no practical results but to drag us further down the road of dealing power to corporate oligarchies. (grrrrrrrrrr)
