It's my first post, so I should probably introduce myself just a little bit.  And since I don't want to do the work required to make a proper narrative of my life, I shall make a bulleted list of facts about me.

• I have lived in Atlanta, Georgia my whole life but I want to live in New York and/or Montreal.
• I am (as of this writing) 26 years old.
• I do not believe in any form of god or superstition, and I further feel that beliefs of this sort (while deserving of basic protections such as freedom of expression and practice) are harmful to humanity, and my greatest hope for the future is that one day we will outgrow this outdated dependence on belief in the supernatural.  This will become abundantly clear as this blog progresses, as it is one of my favorite topics.
• I am a musician and visual artist, at least in my own mind.  If I ever get my band together, I'll post about it.
• I dropped out of high school towards the end of my junior year to go to work as a software engineer.  That was ten years ago, and I still hold the same job today.  I have since gotten my GED and I now go to school full-time on nights and weekends.
• My partner and I have two cats named Harley and Ivy.
• I am a queer American.  I use the label "queer" rather than "gay" as I would rather emphasize my political identity than my sexual orientation.  I would rather express solidarity with all of my Trans, Bi, Lesbian, Intersex, and Gay friends than label myself by who I tend to take to bed.
• I cook.  I'm not the greatest, but I can hold my own.
• I want to be a lawyer who is licensed to practice in both the United States and Canada.
• I have a very high IQ and suffered from an overly-inflated ego and horrible personality for the first 25 years of my life.  I'm better now and generally a very friendly person (although I am still probably more arrogant than I should be at times).
• I love science and learning and I find it very sad that too many other people don't.  I also have a giant crush on Phil Plait from Bad Astronomer because he's smart and sexy, and I don't care who knows it.
• I have a 20-year plan to move to Canada and establish dual citizenship because they seem to actually care about human and civil rights, which would be a refreshing change from a country where Fox News gets the highest ratings of any cable news channel.
• I am overweight and should probably be more active about getting that fixed.
• I am currently pursuing a Pre-law degree.  Specifically it's a BA in Philosophy with a dual minor in Political Science and French.  The Philosophy and Political Science programs are both targeted towards future law students, and the French program is concentrated towards business speakers.  I have just finished my first semester, and have seven more to go.  I plan to use the next three and a half years to raise and save money to go to law school.
• I am a science fiction fan, as well as a media fan in general.  This is another favorite topic of mine.
• I am extremely liberal, but I can at least back it up with rational thought and somewhat coherent arguments.
• And last but not at all least, I have the most wonderful partner in the world.  He gives me comfort when I am sick and gives me hell when I deserve it.  We have a healthy relationship free of jealousy, and I look forward to growing old with him.
