FIRST! Brief Report From Manhattan OS Meet-up

Rate: 14 Flag

Approximately 90 minutes ago, I was in an overpriced, snooty Manhattan restaurant with a group of really cool OS bloggers, including Cranky Cuss, Alysa Salzberg, Sally Allen, Dirndl Skirt and a few others I was meeting for the first time. Lady Lucia was there, too, and I'd told her she would be meeting people who had read about her in my posts and considered her to be a fictional character.

"That's alright," she replied, "I am a fictional character...except in the mind of G-d."

Anyway...y'all know I don't post pictures but I wanted to give the first, brief word-picture of our gathering.

People introducing themselves thusly: "I'm so-and-so...known on Open Salon as whozits..."

Looking at the overpriced menu and deciding that just one drink and an appetizer would suffice. (Ouch!)

Alysa, circulating 'round the table and making sure we all got introduced and hugged. Yes, she is that cute...and I say that even though we do indeed share enough phenotype features to be relatives - the Italian/Jewish thing.

So, we talked about blogs and families and Paris and New York and cats.

My Mama, Rosy Cheeks was there in spirit and I mentioned her when we toasted the gathering, early on. Dirndl Skirt was especially pleased to be meeting Rosy's "Rosebud" and wished that she could meet Rosy, too...

Oh. Just fyi for those who read my last post; I found a dress today! For twelve bucks at a thrift shop. Ivory with a pink and lavendar floral print. Just above ankle length. Fitted in the waist and full in the skirt. Perfect for my rather extreme curves. I'd be happy even if it hadn't been so cheap. And, oh, I am just so glad to be done shopping!

And...I'm too tired for any more stream-of-consciousness right now. Alysa will post pictures (yes, I'm in a couple of them) as will some of the other participants, I'm sure.

Yes. I am, indeed, tired. But it's cool to be filing the first report!

Blessings and well-wishes as ever,

Eva T.

I'm on the train heading home now. It was great to meet you and "Lucia." and yes, Alysa really is that cute.
Jaime: Cool indeed. I hope we can do another Manhattan meet-up before too long.
Sounds great. Always nice to hear about these meet-ups.
Abrawang: I'm glad you enjoyed my account. Meet-ups are indeed good things.
You're fast, and I'm impressed! So great to meet you and Lady Lucia!
wish I had been there.. sigh...
HUGGGGGGGGGG
Good stuff. Looking forward to pix.
I just got in and am so jealous you're the first to post about the meet-up! :-p I had a great time meeting you and Lady Lucia in person. And of course everyone - what a fun night it was! I definitely understand you guys wanting to do another meet-up soon!

Also, congratulations on finding the dress - I love how it feels when you find just the right thing to wear!
How come we all weren't invited?
Folks fear we talk `bout cybersex?
We could hop a 'Greyhound' Bus.
I am jealousing, big time. Thanks for the early report. I can't wait to see the pictures tomorrow.

Sounds like such fun Eva. Didn't know Alyssa was back from Paris. I met Drindle & Cranky last year when in NY. Hope to meet you one day in NY too.
So cool to read a first report : )
I cannot imagine how Alysa would not be just darling...
So glad you all could get together!
And congrats on a great skirt find...
Thanks so much for sharing. seemed like a great time .

Oh my little Rosebud, thank you so much for being there for me as well as for your sweet self and to all my dear OS friends for remembering me in spite of my terrible neglect. I do plan to return one of these days and while I am AWOL I am still thinking of you all.
Wow, you were quick with the post!

It was great to meet you and yes, Alysa's a doll.
Sally: I had a great time and was really eager to report!
Linda: I wish you'd been there, too. You might be even more "huggy" than Alysa.
Myriad: There are a couple of good pictures on Alysa's blog.
Alysa: Thanks again, so much, for telling me about the meetup. I was delighted to meet you and so many other cool bloggers! I suspected that I might (despite the distance between mid-Manhattan and Southern Brooklyn) have the shortest trip home, since we were only riding the subway to the Village and taking Lady Lucia's car the rest of the way. I'll admit that I made a pretty mad dash for the computer in order to get that report in. Anyway...I'm glad you had a good time, too. I really enjoyed reading your version of things and even seeing the pictures, 'though I never like pictures of me.
gracious jane: Do check out Alysa's version.
Art James: I didn't organize the shindig but I think it was for everyone who could get there. Don't you have to actually be online to talk about cybersex? I don't think you can do that without a keyboard under your fingers...
Leslie: Great pictures on Alysa's page!
trilogy: Let me know next time you're going to be in NY.
Just Thinking: Alysa really looks just like the picture on her blog. She effervesces!
Algis: It was a great time and I enjoyed sharing.
RosyMama: I thought about you so much last night. Maybe there will be an OS meetup near San Berdoo some day.
My parole hearing comes up soon. I hope to be at the next OS round-up.

Was just checking on your Mom, had not seen anything by her, but saw she posted here! Glad you had a good meet up!
SheilaTGTG: Thanks for all your caring!
