Please join Ezili's Haitian Lawyers Leadership Network (HLLN) in holding Clear Channel Communications, Premiere Radio Networks, its advertisers, station carriers and Rush Limbaugh, ACCOUNTABLE for denigrating, defaming and undermining Haiti and its people by preying on prejudice, ignorance and racial hatred. Demand for Limbaugh's Clear Channel Radio Syndications to pull his show off the air until Rush Limbaugh apologizes for his racially offensive and stereotypical statements about Haiti.

Articulating his hate in the form of a racist and sexual slur on the
impoverished and voiceless people of Haiti, Rush Limbaugh, on the air, on May 20, 2009, had this to say about Bill Clinton becoming a special envoy to Haiti:


LIMBAUGH: "I'm just gonna tell you, if I was named envoy to Haiti [laughing] I'd quit government. Envoy to Haiti? You can't even pick up a prostitute down there without genuine fear of AIDS." Source: Media Matters.

Mr. Limbaugh apparently believes he may be as openly racist and offensive on the public airwaves about Haiti as possible without being vulnerable to the opinion of decent Americans, the global community, and especially the targeted Haitian people he so wantonly disparages. Contrary to Limbaugh's racist fear-mongering, the "danger of AIDS is ever present in every city, every town and every hamlet on the face of the earth, and that of course includes American and European suburbia" not just in Haiti as Mr. Limbaugh's would make it sound.

In fact, Haiti's HIV aids rate (2.2%) is lower than that of some US cities. Ending AIDs is everyone's load to bear. (Go to: New HIV rate for D.C. women higher than in Haiti; Washington D.C., the " capital of one of the world's wealthiest and most powerful countries has an HIV infection rate of at least 3%"; and see also, HIV/AIDS in Haiti and Latin America By César Chelala, May 02, 2009, stating that - "About 190,000 Haitians, or 2.2% of [the nine million] population, are suffering from HIV/AIDS, according to UNAIDS...Currently, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico have the largest epidemics in the region — due in part to the fact that they simply have larger populations. More than 40% of all people who are living with HIV/AIDS in Latin America live in Brazil."

Rush Limbaugh's statements feed, and are perpetuating the racist and unfounded myth that Haitians are aids carriers. For there's a "genuine fear of aids" in all countries when one picks up a prostitute and indulges in sexual promiscuity, not just in Haiti. There is no special Haitian genetic trait that makes AIDS more likely to be transmitted in Haiti than in Rush Limbaugh's own hometown in the US. Haiti's HIV/Aids fallout is from sex tourism in the 1970s and 1980s.

Limbaugh's remarks are offensive, discriminatory, slanderous and racially biased. Please join Ezili's HLLN in demanding that Limbaugh's employer, Premiere Radio Networks, a wholly owned subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications (http://www.clearchannel.com/) pulls the Rush Limbaugh show off the air, until Rush Limbaugh apologizes for his racially offensive statements about Haiti's people. Demand that Limbaugh must apologize or get off the air. Demand accountability and that Clear Channel Communications addresses Rush Limbaugh's racial stereotyping, irresponsible language and hate-mongering before it hits the airwaves, defames and offends a whole nation.

The reaction of Mr. Rush Limbaugh reported on the Daily News of Thursday May 21, 2009, p. 32 is deplorable for both, Mr. Limbaugh and the Haitian people. The Daily News reported this: "Reacting to ex-President Bill Clinton's appointment as UN special envoy to Haiti, radio personality Rush Limbaugh had this to say yesterday: 'I'm just gonna tell you, if I was named envoy to Haiti, I'd quit government. Envoy to Haiti? You can't even pick up a prostitute down there without genuine fear of AIDS."

This blunt statement is regrettable to Mr. Limbaugh because it shows how corrupt is the mind of this man who would consider the appointment of Mr. Clinton as an occasion to pick up prostitutes on the dusty street of Haiti. How sad! Mr. Limbaugh is in my view a coward who's hiding behind a mike. He is one of those big-mouths racists who would use the privilege and opportunity of the media as a weapon to kill inoffensive people, a group of sans-voix (the voiceless) who ask for nothing more than to survive. On the contrary, this tragic Haitian conjecture should incite sympathy in any reasonable person rather than hostility.

I find it very audacious of Mr. Limbaugh to make such a declaration because he is a citizen of the richest country of the world, of which Haiti is the closest neighbor. Rather, he should be ashamed that his country has done nothing for the betterment of Haiti.

Mr Limbaugh's fear of catching AIDS in Haiti, or anywhere else, is "genuine". But AIDS will surely catch him. The only thing that can save him ...is abstinence.

When I think of journalists, I think of Bill Moyers, Peter McNeil, Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Bill Lehrer, Peter Jennings and the team of professionals on PRI and NPR; but the thought of including Rush Limbaugh has never crossed my mind.

Mr. Limbaugh, if I can use this term loosely, is a man who benefits from the worst instinct of Americans; he knows that some people are always looking for something or someone to hate and this man will always come up with one to satisfy their evil desires. This man is an empty vessel that makes a lot of noise but he lacks substance.

Unfortunately some people come to identify him with the Republican Party and vice versa. I am a Republican. I believe in small government, low taxes, personal responsibility, job creation and an atmosphere that can be used as an incubator to foster job creation and I will assure you that this man is not a Republican. When you listen to Rush, you often wonder what it is exactly that he believes in.

When talking about Haiti as a place infested with people suffering from AIDS and the danger one faces when picking a prostitute on the street there, Rush is sounding rather naïve. He is so far away from reality because he fails to mention the big red “caution” sign that should be in front of every man and every woman when selecting a sex partner anywhere on earth.

One of these days, Mr. Limbaugh may be in a daze after a night of oxycontin and whatever he mixes with it for his daily cocktail, and he will be trying to have a “date” with a female or a male in Houston, New York city, L.A., Detroit, or Seattle; he may need to satisfy a hurried sexual urge and approach a hooker in a small town USA; just because he may not be in Haiti at that time, I hope he doesn’t drop his guard and neglect to use his rubber during that encounter because the danger of AIDS is ever present in every city, every town and every hamlet on the face of the earth, and that of course includes American and European suburbia. This man by talking this way about Haiti is only trying to tell the American public that we should not make the mistake of calling him a journalist because he is none of that.

For some reason lately, Rush Limbaugh has a bad itch that he is scratching so much it might become an ulcer that cannot heal. The individual has been a sewer system for a long time. Anyone who abuses the unique temple given to you by nature with destructive drugs doesn't think much of him/herself. However, he might be a miserable individual, so full of fear of not being accepted by his peers (which is one of the basic needs of humans) that he might want to create any tempest just to be noticed. Unfortunately, he is one of the most famous of such sorry individuals. Unfortunately, removing his voice from the airwaves would not stop the smell of his sewer to reach our nose. There will still be Hannity and Co. What we can do is use the media we have at our disposal to denounce him for the poor specimen of humanity that his actions show him to be. We should continue asking him what he is afraid of to feel so comfortable belittling others. As has been evident for a long time, Rush Limbaugh is incapable of offering any kind words to any other human beings, even to himself. However, It seems that he is getting tired of getting a taste of his own medicine when people reply to his inanities with facts and he has to shut up. Let's reply to him with facts about Haiti.

Let's remind Rush if he doesn't already know, that because citizens of Haiti have always fought for the their freedom because they have always understood that building a nation with a slave system was uncivilized, they have always been penalized for that audacity. Since they only had their bright brains but not enough weapons of mass destructions to stand up to their enemies of which he is a representative, harm is being done to them constantly.

Rush Limbaugh lives in a country which suffers from Organic Stupidity Syndrome aka Racism and there is no medication for this condition. Mr. Limbaugh is just one of the American Psychiatric Association representative of this disease. He is from a country where fearful and sorry souls like him have assassinated and lynched countless of people just because they were asserting their rights to be dignified human beings. He should be reminded that if he wants to show that he has learned something since he has been on this planet, he should let go of labels which mean nothing. No human being is unidimensional, even himself, and he should try to resuscitate the lovely child buried under all that clutter of hatred. When people are happy, they want to share their happiness and so do they with their misery when they are miserable. Like any parasitic plant, he attaches himself to any healthy ones to survive. He gained his popularity by attacking people much more brilliant than he will ever be. However, he should not be blamed for not having had the opportunity to learn to think scientifically. If he has done so he will know that mutation is part of life and that germs like the one responsible for AIDS doesn't discriminate and will never be just a Haitian disease. Rush Limbaugh has mostly gained popularity from people who fill the emptiness of their lives by living it through others. Remember that the National Enquirer is still the highest selling rag in this country. Rush has had the opportunity to hear countless times that the flu virus mutates constantly, that's why a vaccine is useless, hence the new strain of swine flu. But, if Mr. Limbaugh sticks to science, will have to discard that multiple human race construct. We know that he cannot use, dog, or bull blood if he has the need, but that most people of African ancestry with O+ blood will save his life.

As his name indicates, Mr. Limbaugh is on a rush of self-destruction and, since he has an addictive personality, it's tough for him to stop. I never heard him talk, even in jest, about another human being who loves him, who will make sure that on his tombstone will read: "here lies a human being who has contributed much to this Earth". I wish him well contrary to his attitude toward Barack Obama.
