Colonization of Haiti Food and Seeds is not Earthquake Relief

*

Monsanto-CIDE, Haiti elections, Agriculture and Charles Henry Baker 's platform

**************************************************

Give Haiti Farmers What They Say They need - That's relief!

Now that Congress has given relief to Haiti's sweatshop folks by redirecting operations Haiti sweatshops advantages also to the Dominican Republic (Public Law No: 111-171/HR 5160), sweatshop advocate kingpin, Charles Henri Baker switches himself into agriculture advocate! Veye yo, veyo yo... (H.R. 5160 Haiti Economic Lift Program Act of 2010 benefiting the Dominican Republic, but passed on the back of Haiti "relief" became Public Law No: 111-171 signed by President Obama on May 24, 2010.)
**************************************************

Haiti relief should be based on Haiti needs not agribusiness SUPPLY-DRIVEN: Monsanto-CIDE, Haiti elections, Agriculture and Charles Henry Baker

Fungicides, pesticides equals suiCIDE. Monsanto's "gift" to Haiti farmers of 475 tons of hybrid seeds is not based on Haiti's needs, as defined by Haiti farmers, but on Monsanto's supply. As if Haiti needs further soil depletion? The soil is a living entity. What happens when the toxic fungicides, pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides seeps from Mother
Earth and into our drinking water? What happens when you sterilize a mother, Mother Earth? The creatures she nurtures, die.

"The soil that was once teeming with live microorganisms and earthworms that thrive in healthy soil that metabolize nutrients and make them available for crops are killed." A seed that can't reproduce...that's what we are becoming. (See, Monsanto seeds in Haiti: Haitian farmers' epic struggle for survival .)

Women the world over should be paying attention to this issue. Sterility, birth defects, autism is at an all time high in the US. Our bodies are taking in sterile food, dead food, Frankenstein food; it's mind boggling when I hear women defending a dead end such as dead food as "advancement." Mother Earth stopped from giving birth but through a hybrid concoction, a dead soil gives birth to death, slow agonizing death.

This issue of Haiti’s agriculture is so absolutely critical to its future in
so many ways - health care, sovereignty, soil fertility, the very cycle of
life itself... Haiti is but a micro of the macrocosm, of the central problem facing humanity. Which way? Profit or People? Destroy mother earth with GMOs and hybrids, pollute the seas, rivers and ocean with oil spills, the air with extraction toxins, and clear cut the trees... Profit or people? Haiti has a right to self-defense, to define an agricultural policy to grow first for the
family, for the over five million farming-families in Haiti's outback and then for local market, to grow healthy food in a way which respects the air, water, earth, people, plants, animals, mountains, trees, ecology, biodiversity, et al...

"Can farming saveHaiti?" is an article evidencing the Haiti politician's forked tongues. Sweatshop kingpin and coup d'etat Baker slides into position now as agriculture-guru of the people to ride the momentum as it suits him best. Ooooops, the HERO ACT II (Colier/Clinton/ Ki-Moon-slave/wage) which a few days ago was the way to "develop" Haiti is subsumed as the conversation on agriculture revs up global momentum, attention and understanding. (Groups around the U.S. Join Haitian Farmers in Protesting "Donation" of Monsanto Seeds; Haiti: Solidarity, not charity, needed; Haitian Farmers Reject Monsanto Donation‎ ; Starving Zimbabwe Rejects GM Maize ; Industrial Farming and Globalization: Responsibly Destroying the World's Peasantry ; Surging Food Costs Hit Poor Nations Hard; Biofuels Compound Problem ; U.S. Culture of Greed is Threat to World )

The absurdity of Charles Henri Baker mouthing his platform for domestic
agriculture when he’s been integral in pushing exclusion of the masses with
coup d'etat, promoting agribusiness, “free trade,” deregulation, lower
tariffs and sweatshops that helped destroy domestic agriculture in Haiti is as hypocritical and offensive as the squinting glee (http://bit.ly/an03OK) of bi-partisan Clinton/Bush "relief" that presides in Haiti today.

Shinning the white pearl again...

Monsanto joins the pack
and Vision of Plantation Haiti - A White Pearl, Again!

"As a result of these US free trade policies, over 830,000 rural Haitian jobs were lost and hundreds of thousands of Haitians were forced into the capital looking for work, where eventually they would meet up with Jan 12 at 4:53. It’s a strange world we live in and most folks prefer suburban amnesia and
the mainstream drivel that's passing as "news." Now that Congress has given relief to Haiti's sweatshop folks by redirecting operations Haiti sweatshops advantages also to the Dominican Republic (Public Law No: 111-171/HR 5160), sweatshop advocate kingpin, Charles Henri Baker switches himself into agriculture advocate! As if when he was advocating for Collier/Clinton/UN "maybe 20o,000 jobs," urging Preval's veto of the $5dollar per day minimum wage raise, as the ultimate in Haiti "development," as if then, there were NOT also over 5million Haitian farmers; that the nation did not have 60 to 80% of its workforce as agriculture workers. Stay awake folks. "Veye yo, veyo yo/watch them closely," as Haiti peasants, say... (See, H.R. 5160 Haiti Economic Lift Program Act of 2010 benefiting the Dominican Republic, but passed on the back of Haiti "relief" became Public Law No: 111-171 signed by President Obama on May 24, 2010.)

In The Plantation called Haiti: Feudal Pillage Masking as Humanitarian Aid, I wrote:

What's new if this Clinton/Haiti Reconstruction Plan is still about dependency - that is, using large tracks of fertile land, not for feeding the ill and starving people, but for exporting coffee, avocado, mangoes (for Coca Cola), et al...and continuing to IMPORT food, to import fuel, "medicine" and foreign charity workers, and not about system-wide domestically produced food, clean running water, domestically generated fuel, jobs, education, health care and serious investment in sanitation and communication infrastructure and the energy to support these to help the masses connect into the global economy and have a non-mediated but sovereign voice?

Charles Henri Baker, Boulos, Mevs and Clinton/UN are giving lip-service to agriculture investment in Haiti for their own purposes. For, Haitians observers see that of the billions allocated in the International Clinton/Bellerive "Haiti Plan" for reconstruction, only a tiny, tiny fraction is put towards domestic agriculture production, consumption and distribution. So this lip-service by Haiti's oligarchy and Clinton/UN is obfuscating their raising monies and gaining wealth and power, as usual, on the tears of Haiti's earthquake-ravaged, hungry and homeless people.

The key to Haiti's salvation, says the man who would be president of the nation that has languished in terminal poverty for generations, is a "no-brainer."

"There are three million farming families in Haiti," Charles Henri Baker, a leading candidate in Haiti's coming elections, told The Gazette. "The textile sector, to which I belong ... could create 100,000, maybe 200,000 jobs. Agriculture can create three million jobs, bring down the cost of living and
decentralize the four million people living in and around Port-au-Prince. ... They could go back to their villages and lead positive lives, rather than stay in Port-au-Prince and just barely make a living."

If $1 billion of the $11 billion pledged by international donors was put toward agriculture, the world could "watch Haiti not only feed itself, but export billions," he said.

Haiti might finally get the type of funding Baker espouses in his political platform. After decades during which the country's agricultural base was decimated by political instability and mismanagement, environmental destruction and foreign interference that preached the salvation of free-market economies, the idea of rebuilding the country from the soil up and giving Haiti the means to once again feed itself by transferring resources to farmers is gaining ground...."

GIVE HAITI FARMERS WHAT THEY NEED

Virtually 80% of Haitians are small farmers. That's out of almost 10million people. Free trade, dumping of subsidized agribusiness/Clinton rice and dumping of food aid have destroyed their ability to feed themselves as Haitians have been doing since Independence. 30-years ago Haitians fed themselves. Unfortunately rich countries use trade deals to seize food from the world's hungriest people.

Perhaps it would be an idea if Monsanto, USAID and Clinton/Bush relief provided the farmers with what they say they NEED as expressed in this video by Haitian agronomist, Patrick Belizaire. Help the farmers build silos where they can keep their farm seeds. Not try to destroy biodiversity, impose dependency, unsustainable theoretical Western mind-activity that results in colonizing Haiti's seeds. (See Video - Haiti Given Doctored Monsanto Seeds)

Why give them seeds when they HAVE seeds in Haiti that do not require special handing, and Haiti's breadbasket alone has the capacity to feed the entire nation with the untested PROMISE of higher yields when the production cost is higher, and when US is still dumping rice and food aid that makes it impossible for small farmers to sell their harvest in the marketplace at a fair price. Notice in this video , the Haitian farmers are handling the thiram coated seeds with their BARE hands!!!! Who will protect them from the hurt this touching of these toxic coated seeds will cost to their health, their children health? Haitians farmers say they need help with producing - getting to self-reliance and that they don't need charity food or seeds dumped on them. USAID/Clinton/Farmer/UN could help Haiti by using the relief funds raised for reconstruction to buy domestically the small farmers' local harvests in Haiti and feeding the 1.7million displaced and hungry peoples in the capital, not by dumping food aid and toxic seeds on them. That's the no brainer. This big business colonization of Haiti food and seeds is not RELIEF.

"Thiram is a highly toxic chemical belonging to the ethylene bisdithiocarbamates (EBDCs) class. Upon U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tests on the EBDC's, the EPA deemed any EBDC-treated plants so dangerous to agricultural workers, that they are now mandated to wear protective clothing when handling them.

The EPA ruled that pesticides that contain thiram must have a special warning label. In addition, the EPA also banned marketing of aforementioned chemicals for home garden products as it is assumed that most home gardeners do not own adequately protective clothing.

Anyone who knows anything about Monsanto knows that this is not good for the farmers of Haiti. I have heard comments about how selfish and unrealistic the Haitian people are because they do not want these seeds. I tell them if you knew anything about Monsanto you would stand with the Haitian people. It is a travesty. Thank you for posting this information.
Ezili let me get this straight Monsanto donated their special seeds to Haiti but you fail to specify exactly who it was that donated Haiti to Monsanto to be used as their private laboratory complete with 10 million human guinea pigs. I am left to draw my own conclusions especially after photographs of two of history's most larcenous characters are prominently displayed having a good laugh together in your post. Could it be possible they are laughing at you Ezili , you and your people or maybe they are just watching old 9/11 films I can’t really tell. I can only tell you what will make them stop laughing.
I heard Haiti is much better now, but this was a very serious thing that happened there.
