As an Update to my previous post laying out the legal reasons why the UK Marriage Bill Could Never Pass Legal Muster in U.S. I present a story that I expect will get little attention in the U.S.

Many of us are excited that the British House of Commons recently passed a marriage equality bill. Wonderful! But there are a few big buts.

 That word is best defined by Nobel laureate Czeslaw Milosz in his classic book The Captive Mind but Christopher Hitchens' superb explanation will save you some homework.

 I'll not provide the footnotes for I presume you are all familiar with recent history but let me refresh a few recollections.
