Self portrait on a Ms. Butterworth bottle
I’m blocked clean up. Plum out of ideas. Since writing about my personal healthcare hell, I have spent a tremendous amount of time writing and reading everything I could (education is power?) to learn what I, little ole’ me, could do. I’ve written my congressmen, the president, and local organizations. I’ve signed every petition I could find in support of single payer…or at least public option.

I am worn out!
What’s really bad is that it has affected my art. I don’t do serious, thought-provoking kinda art. I prefer what makes folks smile! And y’all always make me smile. I would like to return the favor (hoping y'all might smile at some of this art) and get my creative edge back! So I am asking y’all, my OS friends, for some motivation and ideas for art that will make YOU smile!

And I love a challenge!
The Clinton Museum Store, here in Little Rock, did a call to artists to create art that was pig, presidential, bbq, and /or motorcycle related for a Harley BBQ event they were sponsoring. Ideas came easy one night when a few girlfriends were having martinis on the porch. The names (inspirations) came first. Then the pieces could not be made fast enough. Most have sold. Obviously the buyers of said art had a sense of humor!

the before
the after..."Air Pork One"
(this sold a couple of weeks ago, teehee)
"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it" Frank Zappa
"First Sow"
"I believe in a plate called Hog"
"Pork Chopper"
"Bay of Pigs"
I had way too many pigs left from my shopping trips to area flea markets for all these pig pieces ....so I put them (56 to be exact) on a mail box
"Summertime"
(this piece was purchased by the Clinton Foundation Staff and was President Clinton's Christmas Present from them)
"High on the Hog"
(I got in trouble, kinda, for this one. Funny thing, though...I was told not to display during the festival but a restaurant owner bought it immediately , before the event even started! )
...Can we say a "'BBQ"' restaurant?
Remember, all my art is made from recycled materials. A few of these pieces were on a post a while back. I’m repeating a few, cause, well, I have a bunch of new friends now.

Tell me what you think….elaborate on some of my ideas…..help me!
Here are a few ideas I’ve been tossing around …….
“Namaste” JK, I have 2 little hands and I want to incorporate into a piece.
“Cracking up” Chuck, you inspired this title….I see chaos….
“Pirate Wimmen” The OS girls know who they are……. I know I want to do this piece but where to start?
“Sexy Flowers” a series. Some of Tequila & Donuts’ porno flower photos beg to be done in mosaics.
And no, as much as I want to do a piece called “Republicans Suck” …. I’m afraid, living in a red state and all, chances are pretty good, I don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell, to sell the piece. Remember, in these times, one must sell one’s art to pay the mortgage and hospital bills, when one doesn’t have any fuckin’ insurance….........So sorry, I digressed yet again.
Winning titles will get recognition (with said art) on my blog. (Surely you didn’t think there would be a monetary reward?)

See what I mean…give me some groovy titles…..The kind of titles that will make folks smile!
MOTIVATE ME! DAMNIT!

With talent like that, you want ME to motivate YOU? ;-)
You are indeed a very talented artist.
I will have to think of a title and get back to ya.
Especially "Treasure" and "Blooming Bust".
I like the ideas you have listed already--Cracking Up would be my first choice. So many different directions to go in...
So, the two hands in a Namaste is PERFECT. I have a whole bunch of old costume jewelry that I haven't used in years and have no idea what to do with. It's yours if you want it. I would be honoured to have my stuff incorporated into your art...especially since you have such high flying customers. (all those puns are intended).
Wow, great post. Amazing stuff. You are one talented woman. Namaste!!!
When Clinton said "I did not inhale" HE LIED! But God I love that guy.
Well Fab, I cracked up at least 4 or 5 times looking thru this twice (or three times) and I'm trying here to come up with some inspiration for you.
Give me a sec... BRB
Torman- Nothing like motivating the taste buds.
Fireeyes - Come on back...anytime...but your name (fireeyes) is food for the artsy thought!
Spotted mind - thanks right back atcha!
JK - Go in peace and do some serious yogaing. Of course, I'll take ALL old jewelry! Love the stuff! PM me. Namaste is coming! I can feel it!
Trig - YEA!!! You smiled! Yep, ole' Bill lied like a dog but I still love him, too! And of course, I use Zappa quote all the time. It fits all too well with my art!
Robin - one wimmen or a crew?
Cap'n. is that like "wild" good or "wild" OMG?
Scanner - I've said that all my lil' ole' life! and I love old clocks!
I have a story about micro mosaics. Many years ago...around...1984 or so, Beck and I were wandering the L.A. County Museum of Art....they hadwhich an extensive collection of micro mosaics from the Italian Renaissance and some from the Napoleonic era. There was a man there with a raincoat on, socks and tennis shoes, probably shorts of some kind and a hat. He had a large magnifying glass. "Look!" he waved the magnifying glass around. He handed Beck the glass to look through. "Just look at the magnificence of these!" He was very enthusiastic about the whole thing. After explaining lots about mosaics in the Italian Renaissance to us, he walked away. We were laughing quietly, because he was such a seemingly charming but odd man. The attendant walked over and whispered, "These belong to him. He's very proud of them. This is his wing. That was Armand Hammer." xox
I'm reaching here. OK you like Zappa huh. Camarillo Brillo meats Dinah Mo Hum?
This could be fun. Once my mind gets rolling in this direction (and now it IS) I might be able to come up with some good stuff for ya.
And I have plenty of junk I could send if you promise to turn it into art. You're awesome Fabs.
What do you think? Too much?
.......a crew it is!
Trig - That's it! "The Flamingo Tango" I can see it! Dancing flamingos with melons scattered about! And junk? You betcha! I love me some junk! OMG! another piece..."Junk Mail"
Keep 'em coming!!!
I hope this helps: we mens wants some equal time too. How about something testosterone charged and worthy of Sgt. Trudge Fury's approval?

Fireeyes - but you can still come back ! ALL ideas are appreciated and needed!
Chuck, little do you know how much you HAVE inspired me. What was the name of that hospital? I can see the piece but I need the name! I've gone through your old posts to no avail! I also want to do one called "the music dreams are made of" teehee!
Trudge's Fury? Hmmmmm, the possibilities? Shall I include little tiny thingies? Oh wait a minute, you said testesterone...big thingies?
Robin - did ya see JR's idea above? We could be drunk gluein' pirate wimmen! I can see it now.....
iam - I didn't know you glued? Share!
Mical - Thanks for stopping by!
BTW, I love your stuff. The fact that you recycle everything and turn it into such fabulous work is just phenomenal.
I can model for you.
And the mosaic station!!! I am glad I am not the only one this blew away. I mean really. Of all the "stations" I ever imagined setting up in my house...
Nighty night :)
I tend to do big projects... like a 6ft dining table... the back stairs of our old house... the whole bathroom floor in river rock - one rock at a time (who knew they had that on those handy pre-glued sheets). Here's a sample of this summer's quickie fire pit project.
JK...yes...Trudgeh, in his madness, compared himself to little veggie peppers...my god...I feel for Mrs. Trudge. xox
I am just sayin here... we may need to watch that one.
And yes, yes, I've read all the comments - I'm staying neutral in the dual that appears to be forming between iamsurly and Robin/JK.
On second thought, one must always stand against evil.
Robin/JK - I'm at your service . . . I can't relive the 70's any more, as those years severely traumatized my early childhood.

I especially liked the watch dog and High on the Hog. Too, funny!
"looking at my mosaic station and chastising myself "
What does that mean? Read it backwards. It's frightening.
It does not look good for us mortals. I fear the firepit and the Donnie and Marie skating scenes. (who but someone with unnatural powers even remembers that there were skating scenes?? - the rest of us scrubbed that from our brains with a combination of drugs and alcohol)
Sorry Fab, we've run off on a tangent. So to make up for hijacking your post, I offer up the following possibilities:
Surly you Jest-er
Iam A Bit Pendant Meter
I just looked again at your pieces...jeeze, I wish we had bigger pictures because they are really something. what wonderful detail and variation and they're just dripping with gorgeousness. Love it.

Anne - Bastards R Us! (in reds) It's coming! I can feel it! Thanks!
Surly - Love your "station". If I wasn't so damn technically challenged and knew how to link, I'd show you mine. 2 rooms (1 to work and 1 with stuff to be glued upon) with a studio under construction.
girl - we must glue! (Weldbond, of course)
I Love big stuff, I've done a floor installation and am about to do a 5 ft tall, 3d Watch dog for public art! That's why I need the studio.
Chuck - CEDARCREST! THAT'S IT!!!!! Now I see it! Tune ups and hauntings! OMG, just in time for fall! I am motivated!! Can't remembert shit but I'm damn motivated! You be the man!

Ms Tai - thanks!
nofrills - you are so right! the pieces do take on a life of there own ...once I start with some general direction! thanks! PM me if ya want to see my website. You are appreciated, thanks!
Cartouche - I was prayin' your little creative self would stop by. These did crack me up however I be through piggin' for now! More please? .....'cause I know you got it in that wild brain of yours!!
I KNEW IT ! I knew y'all would stir up my creative juices. Bless y'all's hearts! I really apprecaited everyone's wonderful ideas. I would start gluein' right now if I didn't have to clean the damn house!
What cha think? ;-D
Maybe something about Billionaires for Wealthcare (they have some hilarious videos on You Tube.)
Youse all must still be shocked and awed from my assualt because you can no longer read right, I wrote, "... hard not like those teenie-weenie pepper peckers that Gen. Brady served you last night." (Wow! I've never quoted myself before; it feels good.) Meaning that your hen-pecked peter peppers are small and mine is shall we XXXXL. lol
Trudge - yeah, right! I believe that alright! ;-p
Dr. Steve - She can kiss my good thing! I be a redneck Martha Stewart (also my halloween costume last year) and someday I'll show her..... besides.... I am much funnier than she'll ever be!
I like it.
