Komen & Goin'.

Rate: 6 Flag

The Susan G. Komen Foundation is cancerous at its heart.

Komen Goin'.

lynch komenYou might be saying to yourself "Hey, it's Komen's money. They can do whatever they want with it."

EHHHH! Sorry, but the public gave them a big fat wad of that dough so it has a rightly-deserved voice in what they do with it. And right now those voices are saying a lot of very "uncharitable" things about how Komen is treating Planned Parenthood like the GOP treats a moderate conservative. As a result, the money supply from the public is drying up.

The right hates Planned Parenthood because it actually does what the GOP pretends to do.... prevent abortions.

And prevents unwanted pregancy from starting in the first place. I've always thought that something as complicated, overwhelming and long-lasting as parenthood would go a lot better when planned.

...and let's agree that it's not the business of government or pietistic busybodies, to tell a woman or a couple or a family what to do in a matter that is about as private and personal as it gets. The last time I checked, Susan G. Komen For the Cure was not an orphanage and had not taken in a single unwanted child. Not one.
Surely even the most right-wing conservatives wouldn't want the women who go into Planned Parenthood to do without a mammogram if they need one? Shiral is right, PP offers the means to prevent unwanted pregnancy. They are not merely an abortion factory. So why try to take away something good and lifesaving? Pick another battle, GOP.
You're dreaming if you think Komen wouldn't want a poor woman to do without a screening. That's exactly what they decided to throw away, poor women's screenings. Logically, they care about breast cancer much less than they do about abortions. That's entirely implicit in what they did, and I think they should be brought to task over it.
