- I'm a shortish, bookish sort of fellow, I suppose. I work as a university librarian in the Midwest. I'm more than a little avoidant, so I'm feeling like stopping the sharing right about here'll be good, and there very well may never be a picture. Sorry. Oh, I'm not actually fat, so no worries about my self-esteem there. The name's sort of a joke from my past. I was a runner in my teens and twenties and was really skinny, and my friends and family would joke about my being fat ... kind of on a par with calling the big guy in your circle of friends "Tiny". So, if there were no fudgesicles left, for example, and my brother asked if there were one left, a friend would reply, "No, that fat David ate (8) the last one." Not exactly a laugh riot, but there it is.

Psychiatry? Who needs it?
As often seems to be the case, while I was listening to some of my colleagues conversing, I started thinking about psychiatry ...
...
which made me think about Nathaniel Hawthorne.
In some of his novels and stories, Hawthorne employed the

On the 25 things bandwagon
I've read a bunch of these lists lately and come across a number of people on OS who seem pretty interesting as a result. I don't really feel like I know anyone any better, but I feel like I might like to. So, I thought I'd give a list a go:
1. I'm… Read full post »
