Bio
I'm 35. I work in a career I love, paint, ski, nordic walk, have dogs, have a boyfriend, read incessantly, crochet, travel, sing in my car, and cook like a dream. I was misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia for the past 4 years and the some of the story is posted here. Having corrected that, I have regained energy and vitality, so I'm not online as much as before. Can't really say "F the medical establishment" enough right now. *Please excuse the mess while I readjust my online identity*

Can OS members be picked as Guest Editors, please?

Rate: 13 Flag

In reponse to Mishima666's post "Getting Unread on Open Salon"  what if members of the community were picked to be editors from time to time?

There are already a few members that are posting their favorite picks list in an effort to get some of the unread to be read, so if the community is already gravitating towards it, then maybe we as a community should be given a small amount of space on the cover?

I'm thinking just a one headline spot to change daily, with the guest editor spot be a ...

  • random
  • nominated
or
  • volunteered/applied for

type of situation.

There are topics of interest that I believe are not being touched on that are a part of this body of work that could be further investigated if a different perspective was thrown into the mix.  Maybe this is one way to make that happen?

 Thoughts?

And for the first time, I feel the need to bump my own post.

I feel just a tiny bit bad for it too.....:)
Yes, I agree. Guest editors would be a great idea, and perhaps a way to add to the variety of the cover page.
I like this idea. I see no need to further authenticate those who are already firmly established like the Daily Scrawl.... UNLESS there is new and additonal functionality involved, like a designated space on the cover as fibrogirl suggested. Hmmmm?
I'd pick only Dr. Amy posts and piss everyone off - including me.
Excellent idea.

there's somebody - damn, don't remember name and the item has gone from the feed - which is an informal way of doing something. But an institutionalized (so to speak) way of getting participant input into the EPs (and address some of the recent whining).
Yes, Daily Scrawl.

And - oh Henry!!
HH, you be a funny kid! I actually snorted when I read that.

With the guest editor spot, I assume there would come great responsibility. I figure that the method of choosing a guest editor (I think application by interested members with a quick interview of intentions might be the best way) but the final say would come from the powers that be to make sure it isn't used for evil.
Yeah, we could make good use of the bottom of the page. Like the bottom of a purse. Good things can come out of it.
yeass. Make it so, to quote Capt. Picard.
Whoooooooooooooooo!

OPEN Salon!

Set the great unwashed freeeeeeeeeeeee!
Excellent and Awesome idea.. I think they should try it.
OK, I put my case forward on why I should be OS editor. Let's see all yall's!
I think we should pick EP's out of a virtual hat passed around.
I do like the idea of blogger/editors.
I think I am laughing so hard now I may have to see the new doc on the block. He comes highly rated, and he had found my mind for me four times. I better call and make an appointment..................
Interestingly enough I was thinking the same thing as Suzy when I got to her comment. Let a virtual hat be passed around and let us pick one of our own to be the guest editor.
Yep, I'm attempting a bump again - but I don't think the activity feed will help me.
