- I'm 35. I work in a career I love, paint, ski, nordic walk, have dogs, have a boyfriend, read incessantly, crochet, travel, sing in my car, and cook like a dream.
I was misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia for the past 4 years and the some of the story is posted here. Having corrected that, I have regained energy and vitality, so I'm not online as much as before. Can't really say "F the medical establishment" enough right now.
*Please excuse the mess while I readjust my online identity*

Evidently, THIS is the face of Fibromyalgia:

These images are taken from the two pharmaceutical websites that market drugs for FM. To me, this seems to give the impression to the impressionable that FM is a disease for older women, probably Caucasian, mid to… Read full post »
Coming back home was hard enough. I knew I wasn't going to find a job right away, so I was out commiserating with an old friend at the bar when someone asked me for a cigarette.
"I'll trade you for a job" I joked.
She said "Come down to… Read full post »
I'm no longer Fibrogirl.
Crap.
I've lost my OS identity. I'm not sure how to really deal with that, right now.
I do not have fibromyalgia. I have hypothyroidism. I've been on replacement hormones (synthroid, armour, and progesterone) for the last two weeks. It only took 3 days for me to… Read full post »
I hate McDonalds new marketing campaign. In addition to serving overly sweetened dreck disguised as coffee, they are driving me nutty with the insistance of putting an accute accented "e" on words.
I was rushing to get to a BBQ party one August. I was living the dream life in Chicago, working and residing downtown during the dot com boom. Friends were plentiful and we spent our downtime lounging on back porches grilling up free range and organic food from Wild Oats, musing… Read full post »
Here are the facts:
- I am in a committed relationship.
- I have an almost fail safe form of birth control, so no worries there.
- All my pink parts are in working order (I check occasionally *blush*).

It's about a 7.5 mile ride one way. I ride in designated bike lanes, there is usually a high level of traffic, lots of pot holes, and traffic lights.
I love riding to work. It's a way for me to clear the cobwebs of sleep out of my brain in the… Read full post »
Can OS members be picked as Guest Editors, please?
In reponse to Mishima666's post "Getting Unread on Open Salon" what if members of the community were picked to be editors from time to time?
There are already a few members that are posting their favorite picks list in an effort to get some of the unread to be read, so… Read full post »
Truth, Secrets, and OS
Just received a comment on my post for Open Call, wondering if what I wrote was true.
Wow. I really don't know how to feel about that.
I wrote about something I don't talk about anymore, to anyone. It was a painful topic, but it felt good to throw it… Read full post »
Holy %#$%#$, I got a job.
In fact, I was offered TWO jobs this week, which in all honesty made me feel like a greedy bastard.
It is a good job, one with enough compensation to make me feel secure and pay off the bills that have piled up in short order. There is enough work… Read full post »
My man cannot grocery shop
I'm a good girlfriend when I send my boyfriend grocery shopping. In addition to lists with brand names, sizes and the aisles of the store things exist in, I've also been known to look up items on the internet and print PICTURES FOR HIM TO SHOP WITH.
I sent him out… Read full post »

My tax refund is (sort of) saving my relationship
I'm broke.

I have $68 dollars in my checking acct. and $250 in my savings. I do not have a job at the moment and do not qualify for unemployment. The only reason I am not homeless is that my domestic partner is currently… Read full post »
The Making of a Murderer
Years ago, I got a call at work from an old friend.
"Seriously, get online and check out the home town newspaper."
There was a front page spread about a violent murder of a young girl. She was stalked for weeks by an old boyfriend, who eventually went so… Read full post »
Its 11:59 pm folks - beware of the Midnight Regulations
I typically do not write about political issues. I’m very much an idiot when it comes to such things.
Case in point, I didn’t know that exiting Presidents have a habit of passing all sorts of regulations right before they leave office that effect some pretty scary stuf… Read full post »
My doctor is WRONG!
I finally convinced him to run the damn test. I tested positive, but it seems, NOT POSITIVE ENOUGH for standard treatment.
I know in every fiber of my being that my pain and other symptoms are caused by hormones and the metabolic processes that are out of whack in my… Read full post »
Letter to the O.S. Medical Community
*this isn't directed at any particular M.D. - I read them all: teendoc, jeffery dach, Amy T. M.D., rahil k. p. and others.
Dear O.S. M.D.'s:
This is probably going to create a bit of a backlash, but I think it needs to be pushed out… Read full post »
It's 8:59 AM and I don't want to get moving. This is pretty typical in the morning as I'm usually so fatigued I can't speak. So I hit the blog circuit and read about the lives of people who aren't like mine.
To preface, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia… Read full post »
Chapter 4. Rules for the Survivors - Part 1
There is not a manual to prepare you for the event that someone you know is violently taken from this world. Even the advice I am about to write isn't going to be applicable in all situations such as this but I feel that someday, someone might be able to use… Read full post »
Even the experts tell me I'm screwed!
I love Penelope Trunk, author/owner of blog Brazen Careerist and the community of http://www.brazencareerist.com/ for young professionals. She dispenses witty and spot on advice in both, and as her bio states:
Penelope is dedicated to helping people find success at the intersection… Read full post »
Livin' the life I was supposed to be

I liked OS and still read it avidly.
