Ticks

Rate: 17 Flag
All this talk on Nana's and Trig's posts about mushroom hunting, ticks, toads and woods. After reading Nana's post yesterday and the fact that it was a beautiful day today, I had to go mushroom hunting. Damn It! I just got the urge. Of course all my friends were working so I headed out alone. Yes I will go hiking, mushroom hunting and fishing alone. Hey the way I see it I feel a hell of a lot safer in the woods and out in nature then I do in a shopping mall or some place public. Guess I am just weird like that or something.

I hiked around in some of my Hot Spots and didn't find a damn thing. But being outside in nature just was all out great. I did however find a lot of ticks. Damn it !! I hate those things. I have really long thick hair so it is really hard to find them. Even though I had a ball cap on I still ended up with some in my hair and I tell you what that sucks.

With the talk about ticks on Trig's post and all ticks that I encountered today it got me thinking about a country song that I always liked. It is a pretty cute song and damn it anyway it would have been nice today to have someone help check me for ticks.. Smiles!!
Hope you will enjoy it..

i think we need one more rain to get the morels up, but it's fine weather for ticks. the brad paisley song definitely beats getting the real thing on you:)
Ewwww. Ticks scare me more than Anne Coulter.
Nana- I called around and they are finding them but just not in bunches yet. The ground is pretty moist and still a little cold, but other then that I would say we need a couple warmer days. But sometimes you can never tell. I love this song and yes it is better then getting the real thing on you. Thank you

Zuma-More than Anne Coulter? LOL Oh you are too funny girl. They are awful to deal with. Thank you
ticks suck... but ann coulter is worse.
Ewww...I rescue spiders and ants and all forms of bugs, but ticks...ick. I've never had them in my hair before, only embedded in my hip, but my hair...? Of course, I've never been mushroom hunting in Missouri. My grandpa was from Missouri and he told me plenty of bug horror stories. I think I would have to wear maybe a nylon STOCKING over my head...
capn'- I think you are right. Thanks

Suzie-Nylon stocking? You crack me up! LOL Yeah Missouri Mushroom hunting it is a lot of fun but you do get the bugs. You come to Missouri and I will take you mushroom hunting just bring a ball cap you got short hair it will work for you. Smiles:) Thank you for stopping by.
They're horrible aren't they?
Nat- Yes they are. I wasn't excepting them to be so bad so fast. I mean come on it is just now getting warm. Give us a little break.
Thank you for coming by
Hey now, I like The Tick ... Spoooooon!

(er, wait. You mean the little bugger, and not the comic, don'tcha?)
Anne- Yeah I mean the little buggers.. Those tiny creepy crawly things. LOL Thank you
So are you guys saying that Ann Coulter is not a tick? lol Nice post, FE!! Rated
Onecrogilover-I don't know?? I think some are saying as scary or scarier as a tick. We might have to get that one clarified. Thank you glad you like it.
So if she got tics in her panties he would help her huh
Trig- Yep that is what he is saying. Like the part "The only thing to crawl all over you is me"-GRINS Thanks for coming by
Very cute. I love the lyrics. My son found a tick in a delicate part last week. Yep, it's tick season here too.
Faith-Oh no! But yeah they will hide anywhere that is what makes it so bad. Glad you thought it was cute. Thank you
Great post and song FE. Tick are nasty critters ! You never know where you will find them . I have read that the chances of getting lime diesease is greater now a days.
ticks--lyme disease-- it gives me the creeps, but I do love mushrooms, and nature walks. --rated--
Tics disgust me! Years ago I moved into a house once and the previous tenants must have had dogs that they did not care for properly because within days there were tics everywhere, inside and out of my house. Climbing up the walls, on the ceiling. Had to move out for a few days while the men in the white suits sprayed that place inside and out. Never had another bug of any kind in that house.

I use Frontline on my dogs and that stuff works great. Hate finding them on myself, it gives me the creeps.
Sometimes I wish there was Frontline for people...
Going to sound weird, but I've never seen a tick. And after this, I'm glad.
Gman6117- Glad you liked the song. Yes they do say that the chances are greater now days. They are nasty and you never know where they will be. Thanks

Mr Mustard-It all gives me the creeps too..But I do love being in nature and I really LOVE mushrooms. The hunting for them is the funniest part of it all. Thanks for coming by.

Alonde-Man that would suck! I don't have a dog anymore but I do have heard that frontline works great. I wish there was something like that for humans also. But my luck I wouldn't be able to use it because I can't use the off and other stuff because of allergies. So unfortunately I just have to deal with it which sucks.
But all in all it all doesn't stop me from going in the woods, maybe one day I will have someone help me check for them...GRINS!
Thank you

AshKW- Man that is weird that you haven't ever seen one. Consider yourself lucky for that. I still go no matter what.. Maybe I am NUTS or something.. LOL Thank you
A pretty young lady and myself went for a walk once through the woods. Well, not to be too naughty, But we laid down on the ground for a few minutes. (maybe more than a few). We put what cloths we had back on an I walked her home. In a few minutes, I get a phone call that I will not repeat because of the vulgarity. Yes, both of us were covered with ticks. The only thing I could tell her is, what I do for ticks, is use clear finger-nail polish and put them on every spot that you, and better get a friend. could see. As for the hair, You have to search and pull. Needless to say, this young lady and I never did the nasty again. Unfortunate, she seems like such a nice girl.
Scanner-LMAO!! Thanks for sharing a great story. I had to laugh about it, I won't say no more..SMILES!
I have used the clear nail polish on the bites. And I also heard to take a q-tip soaked with soap and put it on the tick (if attached) twisting it slowly well pressing hard then the tick will remove itself.
They are really nasty and creepy.. but still it is fun playing in the woods..SMILES! Yep better find a friend..LMAO!!

MUSHROOM UPDATE!
Okay well I didn't get to go today I am so Pissed about that.. But it rain until noon and then my grandson Bubbie got sick so I had to go pick him up at the sitters. Bummer!! But Bubbie and I are going to have fun. I was going to take him with me but he isn't dressed for the woods and has flipflops on and not his cowboy boots. darn it!!
Maybe tomorrow..
I have heard they are coming out.. So there will be another day.
Thank you everyone for coming by!!!
I will check back later...
Blood-suckin' parasites...remind me of "Those That Are Too Big To Fail"! BP is one of the very best...Thanks!
Rated & Cheers!
Bubba- Yes those damn things! BP is one of the best.. This is one my favorites of his. CHEERS! Thank you
Yeah on the walk through nature, boooooo on the ticks!! EWWWW!! :)
hey there eyes.

I met a tick once. She attached herself to me and I couldn't get rid of her, not even with matches and gasoline. Had to move from Oklahoma to California just to free myself from her wicked grasp.

Creepy damned things, even worse than chiggers.
Tink- There is nothing like a good long walk in the woods. I love playing in the woods..hummmm Thank you

Christopher- I met a few ticks like that and I had to move out of town to get them off me finally. Creepy damn things they are. Chiggers I would have to say are worse.. Thank you
