Saturday Night All Dressed Up-The Date-Part 2

Rate: 16 Flag

(Part I to this story is post below. So you can read it to see how it all begin)

There was a light knock on my door, I was almost too nervous to answer it. I think the thought of not answering it, and he would go away, had entered my mind. I had to hurry up to hit send on an email, I was sending to my friend. Then I had to shut down my computer, trying to hurry, but also trying to not seem so anxious, you know keeping him waiting a little while. Aren’t you supposed to keep them waiting at the door for a little while?

I open the door, to be face to face with, a very nice looking man, damn he cleans up good. I didn’t remember him being so tall, I would say he was about 6’2”, which I like tall men. He had on a cowboy hat, a tan tweed blazer, and a button down white dress shirt, with Levis. Oh yeah! A cowboy in Levis. Of course he had on his nice cowboy boots, you know those farm boy live in the cowboy boots everyday, but when they go out they bring out the nice cowboy boots, that don’t have scuffs and dirt on them.

I said, “Hi, Come on in let me grab my purse and coat.”

He had a bouquet of mixed flowers with daisies in the mixture. He held them out for me and said, “Here these are for you.”

I smiled, took them, taking in fragrance and said, “Oh Thank you they are beautiful. Let me put them in vase really quick.”

He steps into the living room, and said, “I called your daughter, and asked her what kind of flowers you liked. She told me daises are your favorite. Then she informed me, that I should not buy you roses, unless I wanted a black eye. There is a story behind that, you will tell me some day right?”

I laughed and responded, “Yes there is story behind that, and maybe I will tell you someday.”

Remind me to kill my daughter for all of this, and for telling him that. You know to make up for all those times I didn’t abuser her.

After I put the flowers in a vase with water, I went into my bedroom grabbed my purse, and my suede leather coat. I couldn’t wear my favorite blue jean jacket, that I always wear with the outfit I had on. Then I walked out into the living him, and I seen that he was looking around at everything.

I told him, “Oh pardon the mess, I haven’t hung everything up yet, and I still haven’t taken all my tools back to the garage.”

He just gave me a nice sweet grin, and said, “Oh that’s fine. I was admiring all your antiques. Your daughter said you refinish them.”

I responded, “Yes I do. And that daughter of mine sure tells you a lot.”

We both laughed as we walked out the door.

He was very nice and a total gentleman, so I was a lady all night long. Very nice looking, and actually could carry on a conversation. He didn’t spend all night talking about himself, his horses, his ex and work, which was really nice. This was a huge plus in my book, mostly since I had committed to the whole evening with him. The other reason being that, I have met so many hot looking men, that are better looking when they keep their mouths shut. You know those people you want to tell “Hey do me a favor don’t say anything all night, and we will have a great time.”

We went to dinner at a steak house, in a town north of the town where I live in. We both had a nice juicy steak dinner with a salad. He had fries, I had a bake potato, with butter, and cheese on it. Well I like my bake potato topped with everything, but I decided not to go over board, I didn’t want to dance with a completely full stomach. It was a nice quiet little restaurant, with low lighting, and good music playing in the back ground, so it made a perfect, well almost perfect atmosphere only because nothing is ever perfect.

The conversation over dinner was nice, it wasn’t like a damn job interview, and it wasn’t about the ex’s, and their horrible things they done, which those stories usually come out sooner or later anyway, no since in wrecking a first date with all the basic crap. I thought about trying to talk him into going on a horseback ride, but then I decided against it since the dancing would be fun. If everything goes right then maybe a horseback ride another time, maybe when it isn’t so cold, and chilly outside.

We did talk about our children, shared the funny stories of raising them. Okay so that is a subject, that among parents will come up in the conversation. Well at least it was all the fun stories about the children. His are almost grown, which also makes it nice, they are still at home but close enough to be out of the house. I don’t mind dating a man with kids but the toddlers, and small children, kind of make it harder to get into a relationship with someone, when yours are grown, and out of the house. Teenagers aren’t that bad, they pretty much live separate lives than their parents anyway.

He drove the backcountry roads back to his farm, where the big shindig was being held. We carried on with the conversation, that had been started at the restaurant. He showed me some of the other farmland he owns, and a few places where his friends lived. It was really nice to just cruise the back roads, listening to music, and talking. I always like to cruise the backcountry roads by myself, or with friends, it is just so relaxing.

We arrived at the dance, he took me around introducing me to some friends of his, and some of his staff. Then we walked over to the open bar, he asked me what I want to drink, I told him a coke a cola would be fine. He ordered our drinks, and then we walked around meeting more people. Oh My God! I think this dude knows everyone in Missouri, and the surrounding areas, it sure did look that way, because the place was packed. We found a table to sit at with some of his friends, we sat there talking more each other, listening, and talking to everyone around us.

Then we went out on the dance floor. OH MY GOD! Could that man dance! I’m not one to follow, I guess mainly because I always get these guys who can’t dance, so I always end up being the leader. He was such an awesome dancer, that I found it very easy to follow his lead. He put his hand in the small of my back, and I was comfortable enough, to summit to his every move. He had me twisting, turning all different directions, and with such ease, and grace, I barely realized that I was moving, or that my feet were even touching the floor. I hadn’t dance like that for two years, well since I dated a PBR cowboy, who could also dance with such ease, and grace. The slow dances he would take off his cowboy hat off, and place it in the small of my back, he would glide me gracefully across the floor. Looking into to his deep blue eyes, I could have gotten lost, like the world wasn’t even there. We were having I beautiful silent conversation between the two of us.

After several dances, I was ready to get some air, so we walked outside. He gave me a tour of the farm, walking under the moon light, we didn’t need a flash light, plus he had several yard lights. We walked over to the one of the fenced in areas, that had the horses in it. We leaned up against the fence, watching the horses walking around in the field. He was telling me their names, and different stories about them. When I turned to look at him, he was watching me, and not the horses.

I blushed, because he looking at me caught me off guard. I smiled and I said “What?”

He leaned toward me really close, and whispered, “You are beautiful.”

I think he wanted to kiss me, but he changed his mind, and stopped. Maybe the warning my daughter told him, about the black eye entered his mind.

I blushed and said, “Thank you. Should we go back inside?”

He stood up straight and got his composure back together, and said, “Hey you want to see the inside of the house?”

I stood up straigh,t and said, “Sure you can give me the grand tour.”

I know what you guys are thinking, he is going to get me in the house, and have his way with me. Get your minds out of the gutter. Please!

It was an old two-story farmhouse, that he had remodeled. Beautiful inside, I was in awe at the hardwood woodworking, and floors all through the house. I was a little shocked, and taken a little off guard at the fact that it was spotless, for him being a bachelor. Actually made me cringe, because the last boyfriend, I dated for 6 years, was a perfectionist, and his house was always spotless, so this was a red flag to me. Then I was relieved when, he said that he has someone come in, and clean once or twice a month. He also told me that he is working all the time, and gone a lot so once it is clean it stays cleaned.

After the grand tour of the house, we went back to the dance. We walked around talking to his friends. I thought it was nice that he walked next to me, instead of in front of me for me follow. Then we danced some more, I hadn’t danced this much for two years. After midnight, he drove me home, we had a nice drive on the country roads, with a nice conversation about the evening. We got to my driveway, he opened the door, and helped me out of the car. I told you he was a gentleman. He walked me upstairs, and to my door.

We hugged, and said good bye, then he softly kissed me on the cheek, and said, “I will call you.”

I said, “Okay”

Then I opened my door, walked inside, shut the door, and leaned up against the door, and I  stood there smiling for a long time.

I'm so happy for you. I took notes while reading this, as I ponder the beginning of a new relationship. And my mind was gutter-free; this dude exuded a confidence and gentle nature that didn't require a 'one and only" tour. Keep dancing! Rated.
Mr Mustard- I will keep dancing. You are right he potential for more dates and dancing. Good thing you mind wasn't in the gutter at all, great to hear that. Yes he is very confident and has a gentle nature. One never knows!smiles!! I talked to him to day at lunch so I might have another date this weekend. Thank you
I enjoyed this. It brought back memories of country-western dancing dates in Houston in the early 1980's, only this sounded like it was the real stuff.
I remember these posts! It's good to see you rebuilding your blog Fireeyes:)
And....now I'll tell you the rest of the story...

I'm hooked.
This is awesome. What a gentleman! Sounds like you've got a pretty smart daughter, too.
I remember these. What ever happened to that guy?
... beautiful writing. I'm confused- did this happen in April or just now? Either way it sounds like you had a wonderful evening- richly deserved.
Magical evening. Looking forward to the second installment. You go, grrl! And yes, keep dancing! ;)
I trust he did (call you, I mean).

More to follow?
What a lovely man and woman story. More, please!
Cindy- Glad you enjoyed the story. Yes it does bring back those days of country western dancing in the 80. But this is the "Real" thing, they have barn dances around here all the time. They are so much fun to go too. Thank you

Nana-Again thank you very much!

Gabby- Glad you are hooked. If I get the date this weekend there will be more. Thank you
BrianB-Thank you

Lifehalflived- Yes he is a total gentlemen, most country cowboys are. My daughter has good taste sometimes.lol.. Glad you enjoyed the story. Thank you

Micheal- We lost contact because I went back to my boyfriend (stupid mistake! Dumb mistake!). But yesterday I ran into at when I went to lunch with a friend, he wants to meet up this weekend. Thank you
Princess- It happened back in March. It was a wonderful time. I may have another date with him because I am single now. Glad you thought it was beautiful writing. Thank you

Shivaun- Yes it was a very magical and remembered evening. There might be another installment after this weekend, keeping my fingers crossed. I will keep dancing.. Thank you very much

Boan1- Yes he did call, but then I had went back to my boyfriend, bad mistake. But I ran into him yesterday at lunch so we may go out this weekend, so more might follow. Thank you
Zuma- Glad you like my lovely story. There maybe more after this weekend, keeping my fingers crossed.I ran into him yesterday. Thank you
I love your daughter looking out for you, Fireeyes. And he sounds like a real dream date. There aren't too many gentlemen left.
Don't let that Mr. Mustard guy get you all gutter-free.

The guy sounds like a good guy. I wish you well... happiness and all that.
AshKW-yes they both think they have to look out for me, sometimes they have good choices. There really isn't that many good gentlemen out there these days, most want to play games or use people. I am not into those games. I want the 'Real Things', tired of playing games. I will let you know what happens this weekend. Thank you and glad you enjoyed the story.

Jay- Gutter-free is good sometimes, it is funner to be flexible enough to enjoy both sides, gutter and non gutter..lol He is a nice guy so I will give him a chance. Thank you very much..
great story and great first date! Not many "gentlemen" out there anymore that you don't have to fight off with a stick...or give a black eye!

;-)
Spotted-mind-- Yes it was a great date and he is a total gentlemen. You are so right there aren't to many gentlemen out there. Mostly you do have to fight them off with a stick or throw a stick so they will leave. and yes sometimes give them a black eye..lol
Thank you
I'm so glad you are writing about him again. I remember this from the first time. I was rooting for you then, and am rooting for you (and him!) now.
SeattleK8- Thank you for rooting for me(him).. I'm hoping and keeping my fingers cross. Not everyday you come across a nice gentlemen who doesn't play games.. Thank you!

I have to go to lunch and do some running around. I have a lunch date with a contractor, trying to get a job for my son in law. He said he would hire him if I went to lunch with him, I wasn't going to but my son in law told me to take one for the team..LOL
So I will be back later.. Have a great Friday and a Great weekend everyone..
I'm glad you had a good time and that you found out that NOT ALL men are the monsters that so many at salon and other places like this claim.
Also, even though I'm glad for your having had a nice time, from reading your description of this guy, I just know that, had I been the one to show up at your door, you would have laughed me off of your property solely based upon looks.
XJS- I would not have laughed you off the property. I am not shallow and I don't base if I will a men on his looks. I base it all on more of the character, personality, intelligence, sense of humor. Trust me Looks are not everything. A man can look hot and then be so stupid when he opens his mouth..LOL There is more than what is on the outside of the book.. smiles
I did have a great time, it was a wonderful date.
aphrabehn- Yeah hug the life out of her. She is all the time calling me and trying to get me to go out with this cowboy or that farmer, I don't know about her sometimes. LOL !! Yes it was a great start, a wonderful date. Maybe there will be another one. Thank you
Round and round we go!
Tai-Yepper !! Thank you
Has anything ever come of this date?
Deborah- Well I wish I could say yes. But after this date I went back to my boyfriend(now ex) and in the mean time he got a girl friend. I ran into him last week while having lunch with a friend of mine. He wants to go out again, but he has to lose the girl friend because I don't and won't play that game. But if and when I will let everyone know. My daughter did tell me the girl friend and him fight all the time, so one never knows, he has the number.
Thank you
