Sometimes

There is good, beauty, and hope in everything around. You have to look to find it.

Sometimes you have to look deep within yourself.

There is a lesson in everything that happens. You have to pay attention and listen to what is being taught.

Sometimes you have to look back long enough to understand.

There is happiness and love to embrace and discover. You have to open your heart, mind, body and soul to take it all in and give it all back.

Sometimes it takes losing to win

I agree. People often think of what they don't have, but if I had gotten everything I wanted in life, it wouldn't have been good for me. I still lack faith at times, but I see more and more a divine shape to things.
How right you are. You need to live and learn from it.

FE, I've always believed that everything happens for some great cosmic reason. We may not be able to understand it except through hindsight, but I certainly believe that it is meant to teach us something that didn't know before or give us something that we were lacking. Thanks for such a thought provoking poem.
Delia reminded me of an old Andrae Crouch song that parallels the essence of her post. I used to hear older people thank God whenever a problem came their way. I didn't understand it at the time, but I think that they were thanking him in advance for resolving that problem in the way that HE saw fit and it was an acknowledgment of sorts that the presence of problems only served to strengthen their faith in Him.

Through it all
Andrae Crouch and the Disciples

I've had many tears and sorrows,
I've had questions for tomorrow,
there's been times I didn't know right from wrong.
But in every situation,
God gave me blessed consulation,
that my trials come to only make me strong.

Chorus:
Through it all,
through it all,
I've learned to trust in Jesus,
I've learned to trust in God.

Through it all,
through it all,
I've learned to depend upon His Word.

Verse 2:
I've been to lots of places,
I've seen a lot of faces,
there's been times I felt so all alone.
But in my lonely hours,
yes, those precious lonely hours,
Jesus lets me know that I was His own

Chorus

Verse 3:
I thank God for the mountains,
and I thank Him for the valleys,
I thank Him for the storms He brought me through.
For if I'd never had a problem,
I wouldn't know God could solve them,
I'd never know what faith in God could do.
I'm still trying to find the good in this headache i have had for Two days. Great Blog Though.
You reminded me of my favorite quote from one of the greatest movies ever, White Men Can't Jump:

"Sometimes when you win, you really lose, and sometimes when you lose, you really win, and sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie, and sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose. Winning or losing is all one organic mechanism, from which one extracts what one needs."

Sorry, did I digress? It was really the last line that fit.
Delia-You are right we of what we don't have instead of what we do have. The Divine shape of things is often over looked in our daily lives. Thank you

BuffyW.-Yes we need to live and learn. Because if we don't we just seem to keep doing the same things over and over. Thank you

Onecorgilover- You are so right with what you said. I love and know the song, reading it brought me to tears. Thank you

Goshdarnit-I do hope that headache of yours goes away, if not after two days maybe you need to see a doctor. I am glad you like the post. Thank you for coming by.

Capn'-No you didn't digress it. I remember that saying from that movie. It is a great saying to remember and keep in the back of your mind. Thank you
There is such a host of quiet strength, peace and love in that poem. Thank you Fireeyes. It never fails; no matter how hectic my life at work is, when I steal a moment on OS I find something to make me pause.
AshKW- I am so happy to hear that my poem gave you that moment to pause during a crazy work day. Thank you very much.
"For the loser now is later to win". Yes. The times do change. And it is the lessons one takes from both experiences that count.
Boan1- Yes! Very nicely said. It is the lessons we take from the experiences that really count. Thank you
Profound within simplicity. In my book, you're in the win column.

Wow! Love it. Right on. Your verse cuts right to the heart of what is important about how we view things and events.

"Sometimes it takes losing to win." I have found that true over and over. My problem is that I sulk a while after losing, and that wastes valuable time that could have been spent taking what I learned from the losing and turning it into the next opportunity.

I would love to have back all the days I spent pouting.

Monte
You are absolutely right on all counts. And sometimes, even when you do all those things, things don't turn out as planned. They turn out exactly how they are supposed to. THAT'S the lesson. Sometimes.
But what if you win for losing or lose for winning? I am working hard on not worrying about what I have or don't have. Rated, of course.
All of the profound blessings in my life are due to prior loss. All of them.

I love the poem and the picture.

d
MrMustard- Profound with simplicity...Thank you very much.

Monte-That is so true. I think we all would love to have back all the days and moments we have spent pouting. I always keep in my that a minute spent unhappy is sixty seconds of happiness you will never get back. Thank you

Cartouche-Yes sometimes what we think should happen isn't what should actually happen at all. Best sometimes to let the universe do the driving for you. It all comes down to the lessons that we have learned from the things that do happen. Thank you very much.

1IM-Thank you very much-glad you liked it.

zuma-sometimes it is best to be content with what we have and not worry so much about what we don't have. Treasure the things in life that we do have, like life itself. I find it less disappointing that way. Thank you
Denese- I think I could probably say that all or most of the profound blessing in my life are from losing. Sometimes those are the greatest blessing there are. Thank you
JK-Great prospective and oh so true. Taking it as it is and moving forward does make it a whole lot easier. All nicely I like your thoughts added here as well with all the others. Sometimes losing isn't negative at all when we look at it from a different point of view. You know step outside the box and look into it we can see things that we may have never seen before.
Thank you very much.
Very nice Firegirl, I've been practicing this for years, and like you say, you definitely have to look, but it's there. Sometimes you just have to see things from a different angle.
Michael- Yes sometimes you can see things better when you look at it from a different angle. Glad you liked it. Thank you
Where did you get the fabulous photo?

d
Denese- I have a friend who travels all over the place and he has an amazing eye for photography in the artist way. He send me copies of the photos because he knows how I put them with my poetry. And they are of places I will probably never get a chance to see. Glad you like liked it. It is a very amazing photo almost breath taking.
Beautiful!

And rated.
Tink- Thank you very much.
Loved your poem -

peece,
dj
Jimenace- Thank you I am so glad that you loved my poem. I might be posting more of them soon. That is the plan anyway. Thank you for coming by.
Yes. You have to lose to win sometimes. Tis true. Like when you don't want to let your kid grow up- but you have to anyway- let go. Or, like when you know you are doing the right thing on principal- but you know it will be hard and you will suffer a loss because of it.
I like this... a lot. I'm struggling with some stuff right now and this may be good and applicable advice.

Sometimes you find answers in unexpected places.

Rated of course.
Right-on with the lessons of life. And as one of my fiction heroes was quoted as sayin'..."Momma always said that life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what your gonna get." It's out there or right next to you. Really nice pic.
Rated & Cheers!
So poignant and true. Lovely thoughts.
Tai-Yes like when you don't want your children to grow up but you know you have to. And doing the right thing on principal. You can lose to win on both of those and many others thing in life where you lose to win, but sometimes we learn the lesson when we learn to let go.Thank you

Harp- I glad to hear that I could have possibly offered some applicable advice to what you are struggling with. There are so many who are struggling in so many area of life right now, I hope this helps other too.
Yes we sometimes find the answers in unexpected places. Thank you

Texas- That is one of my favorite saying by one of my favorite fiction characters also. Got to love Forest. Thank you

JustCathy- Thank you I am glad to hear you thought the poem poignant, lovely and yes of so true.
Things happen for a reason and usually as a result of our actions. Just hold tight and it will be explained, maybe much later but, then there will be that"Aha, that is why moment." Thanks!
Pamela- Yes that "Ahh That is why moment" does happen sometime afterwards than we realize the reason and the lesson in it all. Thank you
There is a song recorded by Nat "King" Cole called "Nature Boy".
Your post brought it to mind. The line is: "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return." Thanks for the reminder.....
RonPo1- Glad I my poem reminded you of that song. I have heard it many times. The saying is oh so true. Thank you
Thanks for posting this. I needed to hear it today.
Emma- You are so welcome! Glad you came by to read it and I hope it helps you. Thank you very much.
