Fireyes, Do you realize these songs by our Music Laureate were written in the 50's and 60's? They ho9t the hit parade in the 70's! Back when I was a mere child but a lover of Kris and Rita and Waylon and Janis! A mere child in graduate school! I have love our Rhodes Scholar for over 40 decades. Thank you for bringing him, young though he seemed to me back then...my god, his beard was gray!
He is truly a masterful interpreter of the times as Woody Guthrie was in his.

Rainee174- I cut my teeth on 50's and 60's music. Kris has a voice.... OMG!!! to die for...teehee!! I have always been a fan of any of the 50's and 60's music, that was when music had heart, soul and really meant something. Kris Kristofferson not only sung great songs but he also wrote great songs.
Honestly I had one of Janis singing, "Me and Bobby McGee", but then I decided to change it to Kris singing it.
Give me Kris Kristofferson or Sam Elliot.. any day!!... any day!!...

I have one of my best friends visiting here this week with me, and this is for him. You know you have your best girl friends, which I would not be anywhere without her. But then you have your best guy friends, well I do anyway... I guess that is maybe, because of being raised with 5 brothers and no sisters, but I could be wrong.
But my Best guy friend is visiting this week, from Colorado, we haven't seen each other for 3 yrs.. Last time we seen each other was the evening of Christmas day 2007. The two of us were, shooting pool, having the time of our lives..
I can say this that if there was any man that I can count on besides my daddy or my 5 brothers, it would be him, and he has never let me down.... These songs are for him...
Thank you very much and so glad you enjoyed the music..
Chris is cool. Good actor, too - Lone Star and Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid are standout performances. He made a lot more movies than most folks realize. Another humdinger, which didn't get much attention when it came out in 1984, was Flashpoint, where he played a Border Patrol cop with Treat Williams. One of my favorite all time thrillers.
Fireyes: I have all of his music. He also is a tremendous songwriter. He was the best, I think, in A Star is Born with Barbra. R-
nice. great for a sunday morning r
"Feeling good was good enough for me." Happiness.
"I'd trade all my tomorrows for one single yesterday" Regret.

Life is too long to stay miserable, we must find the joy and share it.
I posted the Janis version of Bobby McGee as the sign off on my 4th of July post... KK wrote such truths, timeless.

Thanks.
Kris Kristofferson: One of the great song writers of our time and that is the same as saying he is one of the greatest practitioners of the English language ever. He also once played a friend of mine in a movie and he did it well.
Eyes - I had no idea you were a boomer too. Your writing always seems so much younger and fresher.

There's NO music like the music of the 50s and 60s. Kristopherson's music always makes you stop and listen to the words don't they. They always seem to me to have a sense of sadness or maybe lost times to them, perfect for his voice.
Tunes from the 50's-70's STILL trumps most of what is produced today. Rock on!

Loved these. Those were the days....Thanks for reminding me!
I thought these were for me!! WAAAAA!!!! ~runs off stage in tears~

;)
Oh But Tink They are for you.. You are my Buddy too..
You have been here for me too.. and I know I can count on you too.. For what I don't know yet... giggles.. Not! I KNOW that I can count on you.
Hugs...
Matt- Kris is cool, I love his voice.. He was a great actor too, I have seen all of those movies you listed.
It started with Janis Joplin singing "Me and Bobby McGee" then it ended up being a post of some of Kris's greatest..
Glad you enjoyed this... Thank you

Dave- Oh gee I didn't know there was anyone else in the "A Star is Born" giggles.. He was a wonderful song writer..

Yale- Oh yes it was a great Sunday morning post, I thought so anyway.. and I am glad you thoughts so too... Thank you

l'Heure- You are so right, Life is too short and we should share the joy and happy moments.
Like I always say "Don't be afraid that life will end.. Be afraid it will never begin." Thank you! (Hey my buddy is single...just saying...well you never know..grins..pm me and let me know...giggles..)
BrianB- I think I seen your 4th post, but I don't think I was able to play the video.. I love that song, by Janis or Kris.
Yes Kris wrote truth and life..(I was lucky to be able to play videos last night, I will get this laptop fixed, soon..)
Thank you

Jack- You are right on with that... He was a one of the greatest song writers, and his songs had so much deep true emotions to every word. Cool that he played one of your friends in a movie..Thank you

Boomer- Yes I am a baby boomer too, 1965. I have been told that about my writing, here on OS a few times over the last 1 -1/2. I write straight from the heart and soul. And I am still very young at heart. I still get carded too, even for cigarettes too. smiles..
Yes his songs, do make you stop, listen and take in every word of the songs. And OMG!!He has the voice to reach deep in your heart.
Thank you

LadyMiko- Yes 50s, 60s, and 70s, music- there is nothing like it, and it will never fade away. My girls even listen to it too, but hey they cut their teeth on that good old classic rock.. ROCK ON..
Thank you

LunchLady- Those were the days. It was a great reminder of what it used to be like.. We were rocking the jams last night, but then- well you know neighbors... I wish I was still on the farm again, because I could jam it as loud as it would go. I have a stereo in the house, in the studio, in my kitchen, in the shop, I even had one smaller one, that I would put on 2- 100ft extension cords to reach down by my hammock and I would just lay out the listening to music, getting lost and escaping life in the best way possible..
Thank you
You are such a dear, dear person!
Xen- You are such a wonderful and amazing person. Love Ya.. and I have been missing ya.. Trying to get back on OS a little at a time. Glad you loved the music.. Hugs.
Thank you
*boohoohoo* It's all good!! ;) ~huge hug~ When I get married to one of my Nigerian lovers, I want you as my best lady!!! ~more tears~ All my best man material are in a Mexican prison!! (HIYA CAP'N!!!!!!) so....well...

;) Loves ya!!!!!
I work in a retail store and we're lucky enough to have really good muzak. But what really gets our customer's going is the music from the 50's and 60's. Not much pleases me more than seeing an adult bopping down the aisle to music they were raised with. I don't think I've ever seen anyone do this to Wang Chung's "To Live and Die in L.A." Great piece!
I've seen Kristofferson live several times, the last time in Austin, Texas a couple years ago, performing with Bonnie Raitt, Carolyn Wonderland, and host of others honoring his "soul brother" Stephen Bruton about a year before Bruton died. Brutons last project was working with T Bone Burnett to write most of the songs in "Crazy Heart."

But the most indelible memory, if not his best performance, was the night me and maybe 30 people saw him come stumbling into the Earl of Olde Towne in Chicago with Rita Coolidge propping him up, for a welcome back benefit party for 12 string legend Bob Gibson, who had just got out of prison. The were both dressed in black leather, and they got up and sang "Help Me Make it Through the Night," and he wasn't kidding one bit. I thought she was the most beautiful, most amazing woman I'd ever seen. About a year later they got married. Unforgettable.
Nothing like good songs to make pain feel shared and therefore more bearable.
Good stuff here, thanks for sharing. R
Thank you ! Everyone for the wonderful comments. I am a little surprised to see how many loved the choices. The are some GREAT songs by one hell of a song writer. I had to play them with him singing them. I thought it made a special touch..
Kate- I totally understand what you are saying about Kris.. He is the Man! Well in music. Then in Movie it would always be Sam Elliot.. OMG! I can't even express what that man does to me.. Hey Maybe that might be my next post.. Thank you.. and Welcome to "The World of Fireeyes24."..Hope to see more of you...
