I just saw this movie recently. What an outstanding idea. It's actually been around a long time. :)

You can't change the world. You can't! One man or woman cannot make a difference...that is a horrible lie perpetuated by Knight Rider *the real one from the 80's* and after it was cancelled, all the good things died. Give it up....we are doomed.

Welcome back. One person at a time is the only way to do it. We've got to stop looking for the quick fix. Great post and great movie.

I still remember the night I watched this movie. My youngest went to bed early and my oldest went out with friends. I woke my youngest up after I watched this movie. I was bawling my eyes out and could not stop.
I left a message for the two girls saying, "OMG!! You both have to watch this movie. Do not go anywhere until you watch it. Love Mom."
They called me at work bawling their eyes out so bad that they could hardly talk. I remember them saying, "WHY?? Did you have us watch that movie?" All I could do was laugh at the two them.
I will say that if you can honest watch this movie without bawling like a baby, there is honestly something wrong with you..

Great video clips from an exceptional music. I agree - We change the voice of the world one song, our song, at a time.

You know who else thought one man could change the world? Hitler.

Doug- Hitler is not even close to what I am saying about changing the world. Hitler wanted to control the world, and make it all his kind of people, the sick demeaned and cruel people in the world.

Here I am talking about making the world a BETTER PLACE for all... not just some... BUT ALL PEOPLE ....

Unfortunately I think it's the sheer simplicity of the concept that causes it to fail. To think that one person can make a difference - even if it's just to one person - is too simple. Change must be spectacular, must create an all-at-once result.

Then again - if we all did our part, quietly, unheralded, without spectacle.. the world would change without the notice of those who said it couldn't be done ;).

A pact Fireeyes - should we feel the need to flounce we shall exit - spectacularly - as one and Kitd can tell our story ;).

Lets say we do a little science project... Okay?? Who is with me on this one??
One person--- Each one of us takes three people and we do something to help them in their lives. Something they can't do alone.
You tell those three people that they can not pay you back, but they have to pay it forward to three more people.

So Doug and Seer you only have to help three people.. And then it goes on from there.
Then lets all get together next Saturday and tell our stories of who we helped. If they help three more or not, it is out of our control, but we at least instilled it in their minds to pay it forward..

How do you think that chain reaction will do????

You've convinced me. I'm going to ask three very unwise people to donate money to my campaign, then give it all to Christine O'Donnel. That will, in turn, cause them to be more careful with donations in the future.

BTW I was joking about Hitler. But oddly enough the germans loved both him AND David Hasselhoff *of knight rider* and they both beleived one man could make a difference.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

Paying forward isn't always understood or appreciated. But really it is for the one paying isn't it! When done the soul cleanses a little. Good girl.

I like the concept. Actually, why help only three people when you can help many. Sometimes you can help in a big way, and sometimes you can only hold the door open behind you when you walk into a gas station so it doesn't slam shut in someone's face. Some people are only nice to those directly incharge of their fate, like their bosses. Some people are nice to those who need it most because they have been down on their luck before, too. Some peopl make generosity a way of life. And, I am NOT talking about handouts. They simply have a humble atttitude. Once you realize that this world is not that big...that when you flip someone off out of road rage- that person may end up being your preachers father or your daughters school teacher...once you realize that your anger can multiply or your peacefulness...which one would you like to send out?

Kim- Yeah something to change the world and do something to make it happen, or don't participate.
How many times have we seen it all over OS, articles written about all the things that we don't like or we want changed. How many times has anyone really got up out of their office chair, or the couch and actually DONE SOMETHING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Something to think about.
What if we can make a difference and we STARTED THAT TODAY?
Very timely indeed with all the hatred that is spreading across the world like a raging forest fire out of control, which will wipe out anything in it's way.

What if we all stopped and thought about what we are doing, saying. If we started to taking a small measure of time and started thinking about who maybe behind us or maybe who may need your help.
Like other day I went to Wally World for medicine. As I was walking out, there was an older lady pushing her cart full of stuff, holding her cane and having trouble because of the wind blow her cart crazy. She had dropped her cane a couples time while everyone was walking past her and just kept going. Finally when I made it out the door, I hurried to catch up with her. I helped her push her cart to her car (I will say that damn thing was heavy to push for even me against the wind that day. ) I helped unload things in her car and to the door, the wind about too blow her over, I think the cart held her down to the ground.
I may have helped her get to her car safely and an easier trip for her. But the smile on her face and the million times she told me thank you, made it all worth it. I felt as if like TG said "my soul had been cleanse a little." Gawd knows I need it too.. lol
It is the little simple things that may make it rough for someone else but easier for you to do for them. Those are the things that add up and make difference.
She was probably happy and not so tired that she went home and pay it forward by making her paper boy an apple pie or something like that. It is a chain reaction that happens so quickly and can become unstoppable.
