MUSINGS FROM THE ICONOCLASM!

- On a political continuum with Extreme Liberal at 1 and Extreme Conservative at 10, I can be found at position “P.”
I get a chuckle at much of what passes for liberal thought, but don’t much chuckle at anything conservative. Quite frankly, I consider American conservatism to be one of the most dangerous pieces of garbage ever to pollute the planet Earth.
A major problem with this mindset is occasioned by the fact that I am a 72 year old, white male who works at a county golf course in one of the richest, most conservative counties in the United States. Since I get free golf (at five county courses) as part of my compensation package, I play 4 – 5 times a week. Bottom line: Goddam near everyone I work with or play golf with, almost all of whom are 70+ year old white, males, is a die-hard conservative. I love each and every one of ‘em—love every bone in their heads. Truly! Sure is a tough haul, though—‘cause I am not given to holding my tongue.
Just think of all the fun I have at work and play!
Don’tcha envy me?

Bonnie Russell turned me on to this story…and since she knows my great passion in life (besides my honey, Nancy) is golf…suggested I might want to do a blog about it.
Seems that Scott McCarron, a golfer on the PGA Tour, called Phil Mickelson a cheater.
A cousin of mine sent me the following email. Thought I would share it with the community.
Some decent ideas here
There recently was an article in the St. Petersburg Fl. Times. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on: "How Would… Read full post »
In his blog that still needs some publicity…John Roberson claims he does not delete because of disagreement…he only deletes when being attacked with uncivil, ad hominem attacks, and deliberate insults.

No big deal here, but I made a commitment to post a thread whenever any comment I make is deleted…and blogger, John Linton Roberson, deleted two of my comments and then bragged about doing so.
Can’t remember what the first one said—obviously some so… Read full post »
MaryTKelly, BenSen, Kerry Lauerman, and I met for some food and a bit of libation in The Big Apple last night.
I think we all had a terrific time…although I really wish the other three weren't such a bunch of big mouths…hogging all the stage time.
Nancyc123 wrote a blog talking about the great joy she felt in “being part of history.” She was one of the votes that helped Scott Brown take Ted Kennedy’s old Senate seat.

In an excellent thread by Gwool devoted to today’s special election in Massachusetts, I responded with some comments I felt strongly enough about to put into a separate thread. This is that thread.

Those wonderful Church Bulletins!

I’ve had conversations in two different threads this week with people vehemently opposed to the death penalty. In both I took a position that we ought at least to consider the possibility that execution comes closer to meeting the intent of the “no cruel or unusual punishmen… Read full post »
Don't know if you folks have seen this...but hold on tight and take a look.
Jeez…just a few days ago I was bemoaning the fact that I could not understand the Verizon TV ad about 3D service.
I told Nancy that I feel so left out by technology.
“It’s all passing me by,” I lamented.
And then last night I… Read full post »

Gonna make this as short and sweet as possible. It has to do with the Cartouche/O’Really brouhaha.
In a PM to my sister, m.a.h., I mentioned that when I read O’Really’s threads…her comments "often made my dick get stiff"...and that I was disappointed… Read full post »
This is a short one...one I originally submitted in the Open Call for fiction in 101 words or less. But I am proud of it...and thought it appropriate to post it again. So here goes...a fiction short-story in less than 101 words.

I see post after post on this site castigating Barak Obama for not meeting what I consider unrealistic expectations. Many, perhaps most, are from people whose views I normally admire…and who, in my opinion, should know better.
