CNN Declares Marijuana Legal

9/14/09 - Chris Goldstein

In one of the best pieces of recent mainstream journalism on the reality of cannabis in America, CNN uses a bold title:

How marijuana became legal

This title is true in the context of the story: The California Medical Marijuana Industry.

Originally for Fortune Magazine this extensive piece of writing on the part of Roger Parloff carefully looks at the somewhat quiet success of this new business model and health service. It also looks at the history of medical cannabis use in America which is a fascinating topic.

He interviews Irvin Rosenfeld, one of the four federal medical marijuana patients. Irv has been helping us in our effort to pass HB 1393 in Pennsylvania. He is a most wonderful person and personality  who has been very outspoken about reform.

Steve DeAngelo of Harborside Health Services also is featured, he runs perhaps the largest marijuana service in California.

Next week I'll be joining Steve and hundreds of advocates at the National NORML conference in San Francisco. Harborside is also a conference sponsor.

This weekend the Boston Freedom Rally will see 15,000 people gather to support reform.

It's time to give our attention and energy to this vital social issue. Marijuana Legalization represents nothing less than a full bailout of our society (taxes, jobs, health and wellness, relief to public safety budgets) at a moment when we need it most.

2009 marks the year of modern marijuana becoming fully mainstream in the United States. This year will be an important milestone on what is becoming a shorter road to an end of cannabis prohibition.

CNN says pot is legal, at least therapeutically: It's time to make that true everywhere in this great country.

amen... for this if nothing else.

"It's time to give our attention and energy to this vital social issue. Marijuana Legalization represents nothing less than a full bailout of our society (taxes, jobs, health and wellness, relief to public safety budgets) at a moment when we need it most. "
thanks man! All this hemming and hawing over bailouts and health care....and we already have a working alternative....growing on the vine as it were....
Please see my admittedly long but very extensive history on WHY pot should be legalized nationally in this country at my blog
http://margueritearnold.wordpress.com/2009/07/17/history-of-the-evil-weed-criminalization-of-pot-in-the-us/
Please feel free to post it, but it is original work I have not seen anywhere else. You will also find on my blog, links to medical trials already underway, funded by the US government on cannibis and Marinol on the effects of marijuana on many neurological ailments from TBI, to multiple schlerosis and epilepsy to dystonia.

Obama is a fuck and and an idiot.
When we look back at the pot laws of this era, in a couple of decades, we'll all have a nice long laugh. A laugh broken by a few coughs of course.
