Bio
Observations From the Swamp Many folks think we live in the nether regions of the earth here in Toledo, Ohio. However, Toledo is the birthplace of jazz great, Art Tatum, not to mention many other distinguished and accomplished AfrAms (African-Americans) who often remain unheralded and unrecognized in their home town. This swamp is a petrie dish swarming with undiscovered talent that the world may never know because there are too many slimey creatures down here in the swamp pulling down anyone who tries to climb out and come out into the warmth of the sun. This diva climbed into the swamp with one purpose - to rid the world of slime!

A Poem About the Act of One Man That Started a Movement

Rate: 8 Flag

Burning to be Free: Bouazizi the Great The burning body of Mohamed Bouazizi Warmed the fires of a revolution Fueled by modern technology  Across the Middle East youth as fiery As America's hippies protesting war Decades ago, marched and rioted This revolution was televised and The entire world watched as the  Flames spread from Tunisia to Egypt A twenty-six year old who'd be  Stereotyped as a terrorist or  Car bomber elsewhere, set himself afire His self-immolation was an act of Courage and desperation by a man Who just wanted to work in peace Bouazizi sold fruit to support his family But police corruption disrupted his Humble business and lit a flame That first spark of indignation and Rage grew into an ember of despair Until he it turned into a bonfire   Of hope.  Bouazizi died from his wounds, but the Revolution he started lives on and Burns bright in Libya, Syria, Yemen Proving Muslims are no different from Christians, Jews, Hindis, Buddhists, etc.  In their desire for freedom and dignity Knowing that, in the immortal words Of another man who suffered the Indignities of a corrupt police force "Why can't we all just get along?" ©3/27/2011, Jo/Yce

Sorry about this being jumbled together. I can only post through HTML on my iPhone and don't know how to avoid jumbling the sentences together.
Not an 'ember of despair' but a fire that will burn in free hearts everywhere, I hope. Thank you for this tribute; his sacrifice should not be forgotten in the conflagration that ensued. Rated.
Because sometimes or should I say most times.. people do not want to get along.
I AM SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU HERE..
HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
This is a powerful tribute, Diva. Thanks for sharing it here. It's great when you visit us.
Thanks, psychomama, my dear friend, Linda, and Matt. Sorry about just being a visitor these days. One of these days I'll get my mojo back.
Thank you for this beautiful tribute to Mohamed Bouazizi, and joining it with the message of Rodney King's.
Thanks, Clay. Just wanted to acknowledge this young man's courage and that we're all connected.
Jumbled no matter
beautiful, painful words
why indeed
is hate so easy
and love so hard
rated with love for the swamp
Thanks, Poetess. And for making me a favorite. Love your latest offering.
Welcome back in whatever capacity, Diva!
