Bio: Observations From the Swamp Many folks think we live in the nether regions of the earth here in Toledo, Ohio. However, Toledo is the birthplace of jazz great, Art Tatum, not to mention many other distinguished and accomplished AfrAms (African-Americans) who often remain unheralded and unrecognized in their home town. This swamp is a petrie dish swarming with undiscovered talent that the world may never know because there are too many slimey creatures down here in the swamp pulling down anyone who tries to climb out and come out into the warmth of the sun. This diva climbed into the swamp with one purpose - to rid the world of slime!

The outrageous behavior at Penn State covering up the crimes of a child rapist indicate the power and control college sports have over academic institutions. Instead of protesting the fall of a beloved coach who beloved or not was complicit in the cover up, students should occupy their school's stadium until all such crimes are reported and the criminals are arrested. Misplaced school spirit has so far clouded the minds of some Penn State students. I hope the rest of the student body and the alumni will assemble in a peaceful way, not violently like Joe Pa's supporters, on behalf of the children that were assaulted and exploited on their campus to demand justice for those victims. Do the right thing! Show the nation and the world your character and the true character of your school. Hopefully, an action of this kind will inspire other colleges and universities to put college character above college sports.

I come back from time to time, guys. Glad to hear from you. Yes, there will be blood. Kent State all over again. We don't want that. Actually, I'm watching the assembling of students at Penn gathering to have a candlelight vigil for the victims. Very appropriate and no danger of bloodshed. Tomorrow's game will go on as planned.

How about occupying stadiums of the NFL and arenas of the NBA, too? I am soooooo sick and tired of the greed that this country now thrives on. The NFL did come to an agreement that saved some of America's leisure pastime on Sunday's, Monday's, Thursday's, and holidays!! However, the NBA just cannot seem to come to an agreement. And, it's because of those dead presidents!! I recall reading that the players are looking to renegotiate a salary structure not only for themselves but for future players as well. Unfortunately, I haven't heard the NBA or the players express concerns about those employees and local vendors who depend on the income and business that the NBA brings to local economies. These folk are all part of the equation! But, who cares about those who struggle to legitimately provide for their families? And, then there is us…. the consumer, who contributes to greed through the purchase of tickets, clothing apparel, team memorabilia, video games, etc. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the NBA, NFL, or any other sport. In fact, I enjoy sports; I simply hate the greed that now governs salaries of these athletes. Yesterday, it was loyalty about the game, as a lot of athletes made their career with one team. Today, there is very little to no loyalty in the workplace in general…. It’s just business as usual dictated by MONEY which leads to more MONEY and eventually greed takes over. And, where greed dwells, problems and trouble are likely to erupt. Americans can do a lot of occupying America without taking to the streets…. Simply decrease your spending significantly. Hmmmm…. What would the NBA, owners, and players think if fans decided not to attend games?
