The Supreme Court has decided to hear the case over national health care, specifically, the mandate to face a penalty if not covered. But it doesn't stop there. At risk is the expansion of Medicare and several other important, key provisions. And all this right in the middle of the 2012 presidential election. Talk about an "activist Court!"
Something's rotten in the state of Denmark.
Anyway you look at it, the timing couldn't be worse. Or incendiary. Which makes it suspect to begin with. Whatever the Court decides, each polittical side will smell a skunk. And they'll be correct. And the unrest will be horrific--make no doubt about that. The timing couldn't be more irresponsible. Lady Justice is peeking through the blindfold on this one. Make no mistake about it. The Supreme Court is playing with fire.
But the American people need to throw some of those fireballs back. How long will we be straw-stuffed scarecrows?
We need to begin NOW. And it begins with Justice Clarence Thomas. Americans need to demand that Clarence Thomas recuse himself from this case. Period. Why? His wife, Virginia, has been a advocate for all things anti-Obama. Her non-profit lobbying group, Liberty Central, Inc., can now raise "unlimited amounts in corporate donations" without disclosing its donors thanks to a Supreme Court decision her husband helped to pass (whose vote is in itself controversial). In fact, he's often seen with her at these events.
The Obama administration is confident that the Court will see eye-to-eye with them on this case and has, in point of fact, advocated its hearing. Duh. (Wink-wink like he was for a public option--how convenient--he can say the Court overruled him.)
This court is NOT a champion of middle-class America. And the Obama administration knows that. And considering the 2000 election, one can soundly argue that the Court is not a champion of anything America when defined by democratic principles.
As America sad idly by and allowed the Court to reign George W. Bush "president," let's remember the consequences:
- 9-11
- Iraq
- The Great Recession
- Corporate Greed
- Bank Bailouts
- Home Foreclosures
- Historical rise in poverty
Seven single events that, in less than a decade, have shaped the demise of this country for millions and millions of Americans, not to mention the death of even more innnocent millions overseas, because of a Supreme Court decision.
I'm not willing to wait on this latest "ruling." Are you?
Let's send all the Justices a message. Do the right thing. And let's begin with Clarence Thomas. If not, face the consequences. And let's begin with a national strike.
Enough is enough.

9-11 - terrorists
Iraq – It was a bipartisan decision to go to war
The Great Recession – The Government, greedy banks, irresponsible borrowers, pretty much everybody
Corporate Greed – Would you rather they lose money?
Bank Bailouts – Paid back with interest
Home Foreclosures – What do you expect to happen when borrowers don’t pay their mortgage?
Historical rise in poverty – Historic under Obama and the Democratic Congress
If the Court rules without inventing some bizarre standard, the mandate will pass. If Scalia is true to his previous votes, the mandate is safe, but I'm sure his lapdog Thomas will vote to preserve his graft payments.
If precedent is followed, the Court will rule that the Anti-Injuction Act prevents the objection to the penalty being heard until it's enforced, sometime in or after 2014.
The state's Medicare/Medicaid claim will fail, as it hasn't been ruled against by any court. The states can refuse to participate in that if they wish.
Fever is a chowderhead, so there's no reason to take him seriously. There was a surplus when Bush was slid under the door by the Court's extra-constitutional ruling. Every item you mention involves the Bush admin's incompetence or complicity, but you forgot to mention the Bush-caused explosion in federal and private debt. I doubt the Justices who aren't dead and abused the Constitution are able to pay back the 6 trillion+ in added federal debt that decision cost America.
That aside, it's obvious Obama is no champion of the middle class either.
