LIFE SUPPORT

Sometimes
I need a poem--

Not an emergency
Entrance--

But EXIT!
The exactness

Of meaning
And being.

There is
Justice

In ordered
Words--

Each sound
A deliberation

Between breath
And breathe--

The hymn
Of rhythms

That belie chaos
And confusion

Between lines
Of intended hurt.

(Too much of life
Lies between lines of hurt.)

Reality
Suffocates.

I need the oxygen
Of an alphabet.

A banana
Bag of vitamins

To drip into me
Letter by letter.

The keyboard--
Is my apothecary.

I lean
Into the solace

Of lone
Vowels--

The soothing
reassurance of  "I"

And constant
Consonants--

Verdicts
In music as medicine.

Even the jolt
Of STAT!

And bilabial blabberings . . .
To escalate blood pressure--

Slap!
Slap!
Slap!

There is no flat
Line

In poetry.

No body bag
To toe tag

A cadaver.
Abracadabra . . .

When your life is a fugue
There is no morgue.

Creation
Is prescription.

To make something
From nothing--

The miracle
Of alchemy--

Gold.
God.
Go.
O!

Gary, I was so shocked when I read this. Well done.. maybe you should do a food blog to prose. Wait.. they are already poetry in motion,
HUGGGGGGGGGGG
Unlike Linda I wasn’t shocked. I have read your poetry before Gary, and I believe I welcomed you to a very exclusive club back then.
An accomplished cook and a poet!! So you were not the classic... those who can't, teach.
Loved this Gary!
I imagine you even use a typewriter.
This may be the first poem I read by you. It's fantastic. I love especially the last 8 lines and how they fit. Thank you, Gary.

Daisy: that's the line that got to me, too.... thank you, muses . . .

Linda: oh, I do so love to shock pple . . . I have tons of poems, actually . . .
Jack: Wow....an exclusive club? I hope it's not the Illuminati . . . . LOL . ..

Chrissie: now your comment gave me pause . . . first into your insights about me . . . and then your own discernment . . . nope . . . I was not your ordinary teacher .... thank goodness (I was always in the principal's office . . . and I was the teacher !!!!!!)

LFJ: Wish I still had my old typewriter. True story: when I graduated grade school, I asked for a typewriter . . . how strange was I?

FisimA: Me, too.... don't know where they came from . . . which is what I LOVE about art...tapping our unconsciousness into the consciousness of ?????????????
Thanks Midwest. I'm with Fusun, the is the first poem of yours I've read. Write more, ok?

I do very much like "to make something/from nothing/The miracle/of alchemy."
DB: Thanks. I have tons. I just never post poetry very much. . .
Shame on me for not keeping up with your incredible work....
Gary: Thanks for following me. . . You have a great name, btw . . .
