My New Poem

Pole Shift

Pre-dusk.
I uncork

It like my
Chardonnay--

Liquid
Gold.

The sun
Is just going down--

Sip and savor--
Savior.

See, this is the going
And the coming.

The going
And the coming.

When we all return home.

The daily bread--
Broken--

Partaken.
Shadows lengthen.

What did I accomplish?
Does it matter?

Ask the covey
Of doves

Who coo
And soothe

Into their feed
Of seed.

Turn off the news.
Tune into

North.
South.

East.
West.

Kiss the sun adieu.
Wait for the moon.

I am aligned.
A pyramid.

Eye

This works for me! The opening is a perfect setting for what follows.

HUGGGGGGGGGGGGG
[r] perfect imperfect rhyme! great sound play. also love the pic! libby
One of my favourite times of the day captured perfectly: that junction between day and night marked by the ritual of a glass of wine, the smell of good food and gentle reflection.
This is an absolutely incredible f---ing poem.
Inspired and beside itself with brilliance...
Oh how I enjoy a glass of Chardonnay at the close of day. Very lush and soothing poem, and the pic is ever so cool.
I am so insanely jealous of you right now it's hard to see past the viel of green shielding my eyes. I love the sound of this poem...how every line flows together. How the rhyme (who knows if that's even spelled/spelt correctly) is never awkward and always appropriate. You need to write a bunch of these, put them into a manuscript and get yourself an agent, quick status!
Thanks to everyone for your supportive comments. I actually have quite a bit of poetry, but I don't post much of it.
Scupper: Thanks!

Rita: Wow, I've never been called "enchanted" before . . . TY!

Chrissie: Yes, and last night I saw the venus, moon, jupiter alignment.

MCS: Thanks

Gary this is so lovely. We, too, saw the venus, moon , jupiter alignment and it was magical. r
Christine: Thanks! Yes, the heavens are always magical . . . wait until 12/21/12!
