This morning, as a result of my immediately previous post having been noticed by someone who works with BBC, I was contacted by BBC's program "World, Have Your Say", a daily global talk show, and asked to participate in today's discussion, "Has the Chile mine rescue been a wake-up call for you?" The link will take you to a podcast of the program.
I was excited to be called and enjoyed participating. It was particularly satisfying being part of a global community discussion. The most interesting part of the program, for me, occurred before I was brought on. It was an interview, conducted by the moderator, Ros Atkins, with James Poniewozik, TV critic with Time Magazine, who talked about the involvement of the media and its effect on reaction to the story. This segment begins at about 32 minutes into the podcast. For me, it was the highlight of the broadcast. I think anyone who is continuing to think about world-wide reaction to the Chilean miner rescue would find this episode, and a few more over the last few days, provocative listening.
