Icelandic prime minister Johanna Sigurdardottir, the world's first openly gay head of government, married her partner, writer Jonina Leosdottir, Sunday after the new law legalizing same-sex marriage in the county came into effect, reports the AP.
The couple had been in a registered partnership since 2002 and had applied to have it converted into a marriage under the new legislation.
Way to lead your country into further social progress! Congratulations, wife and wife.
