Pretty Girls Make Graves by Nicole Trilivas

Rate: 1 Flag

Ms Trilivas' book is a fun, tough, original and thought provoking read. We follow our tortured protagonist Justine through a tumultuous odyssey of post adolescent angst. Humour and sarcasm lace the text and give Justine a tragic yet endearing quality; we see her romantic idealism struggle with her dark reality and this is beautifully interwoven with classical texts and fairy tales which demonstrate the universality of 'Pretty Girls' who not only make graves but are prone to jump in them and weep while on a debauched and lonely adventure.

Justine is a brilliant character to go on a journey with, her life is not easy to fit into a box yet it encapsulates the angst of being post teen and heart broken, lost and confused but still getting up and trying it anyway, never giving up.

I read this when I worked with Nicole on her trailer for the book:

It's an awesome trailer and I think she leads the way for book trailers; it seems like the best way to promote a book.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and truly recommend it.
