It's one of the few opportunities any more for straight men to dress up in evening gowns. I suppose the can always go hashing and do the Red Dress Run (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_House_Harriers), but the dresses have to be fairly short. It's pretty hard to cover any distance in a ball gown.
