I don't know if its been this particularly long winter, but I have been struggling with depression more than I usually do. I took my son to see Alice and Wonderland yesterday and I realized that I felt so much better! It was so great to see a female hero, heoine! She wielded her sword and wore armour, she had heart and brains! Or maybe, it was the Mad Hatter's Fadder Waggin', I'm not exactly sure. All I know is that when I left the theatre I felt like a 1oo lbs. had been lifted from my shoulders.
This morning I decided to put on the Ratatouille DVD. This past Christmas a present to the family was a huge, HDTV with surround sound. Let me tell you the animation is gorgeous in this movie! The message is inspiring. The music is European, jazzy and romantic. I didn't just sit and watch the entire film, but my son joined us in kitchen/den area and he felt more a part of the morning routine. As I packed lunches, got my husband's special Friday shirt to from the utitlity room the movie was a positive back drop to my usually hectic morning. This film is just as inspiring as Julie and Julia for cooking. I made my husband these great eggs with fresh mushrooms. He loved it.
I've got to get things going this morning and head out to the dialysis clinic with my son, but I feel very light hearted as the jazzy music plays on and the credits roll.
I don't want to run a way from my problems. I just need a different perspective. Movies made for kids can touch the kid in all of us.
