Christian conservative leaders are anointing Mitt Romney as the new leader of America's Christian Conservative movement. And nary a questioning voice can be heard, from the pews, choir rafters, Christian television or radio.
I would just like to clarify that as an American citizen and according to our constitution I believe that, other faiths are free to believe and speak as they please. I also believe that religion should not have a bearing on whether or not someone is qualified to be president, but as a Christian myself, I think the mega church, RICH, ministers and leaders SHOULD be called out for compromising what they've presented themselves to be while they gladly hand the mantle over to someone whose religion is a direct contradiction to the core beliefs of Christianity. And in so doing they are,
Putting a Price on the Souls of Their Flock
Romney recently gave the commencement speech at the conservative, Christian University, Liberty in Lynchberg VA.
Liberty's decision to invite Romney, a Mormon, to deliver the commencement at the Christian school founded by Baptist Minister Jerry Falwell drew criticism from some on campus who feel Romney's beliefs contradict the school's teachings. The university offers a theology course that describes Mormonism as a cult.
"Drew criticism from SOME on campus..." because they were sincere enough to believe that maybe the founders, leaders and professors of the school believed in what they taught, that Mormonism is a cult.
The very core of a follower of Jesus Christ with, God coming to earth as man, born of a virgin, sacrificed for ALL our sins, so that WE can be saved by grace? Is not of their beliefs.
And believe me, the clarion call will grow louder and stronger as deals and promises are made with powerful, wealthy, constituent influencing, evangelical leaders as they meet with Romney and his people, with a guarantee to deliver votes for a place at the table. Brainwashed, FOX watching, Limbaugh listening, well intentioned, though ill informed believers will be told that, the place at the table will insure that the conservative voice will be represented and heard. The fact is that to the Mega Church/Evangelical Elite it is of the utmost importance to shor up tax cuts and policies that will help them retain or gain more wealth, than it is to stand up for their faith Like school vouchers, virtually every mega church also runs a school. "Oh no, BIG BAD Govt., don't tax me or tell me what to do, but just make the check out to..."
And, in what is the epitome of hypocrisy, which they are masters of, is their blatant attacks on the faith of President Obama. . Why is it okay for the Evangelical/Christian, conservative base to call President Obama something he clearly is not, Muslim, and judge him for it, but its okay to NOT judge Romney for what he clearly is and professes to be?
“I came to my Christian faith later in life, and it was because the precepts of Jesus Christ spoke to me in terms of the kind of life that I would want to lead. Being my brothers’ and sisters’ keeper. Treating others as they would treat me. And I think also understanding that, you know, that Jesus Christ dying for my sins spoke to the humility that we all have to have as human beings.”
President Barak Obama
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
35 For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
Ask yourself, whose policies better reflect the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ?
And lastly, I will say this, if the Evangelical church feels they do not have a presidential candidate that fits their standard, then they should do what they're supposed to do, what they are tax exempt for, MINISTER!!!
