I'll bet we are legion on OS. :-D
*First thing today? Poured a cup of coffee*
Damn, I thought I had an automatic coffee maker when I got married. Then I discovered she drinks tea. ;-D
Mr. M - good point; maybe when I start I will be an 'old' prodigy at 85!
LadyM - thanks... I hope I get that call for that beer
Pam… That 1st Rob Roy did put some hair on my chest & maybe my throat, as will. As for someone telling to jump out the window – no, we took turns. Mr. Bearden was blind as a bat and after calling the roll, he usually dosed off – (Mr. B was on the Bataan Death March during WWII and could sleep deeply at the drop of a hat. He also was my algebra teacher & brilliant at math.)
I'm sending along good thoughts for your dad.

Pam… the Krispy Kreme shop was just down from the school and you got them straight off the conveyer belt still warm & wet from their ‘glaze-bath’. I am sure old “Mutt” (Mr. B) knew what was up; he just let boys be boys.
You, George, are a man after my heart.
Thanks for stopping by... I've missed your charming post.
I hope your father's surgery goes well.
Love those old school buildings. Yours looks in pretty good shape. Mine has been empty for 20 years, is too expensive to renovate, but can't be torn down because it is absolutely jammed with asbestos. So it just sits and decays. Sad.
I've had Krispy Kremes off the conveyor, and you're right--there's nothing better.
Mucking stalls...lol...yup, I did that too. I had the pleasure of working for Seth Hancock one summer, and got the honor of mucking Secretariat's stall. And putting up hay. And eyeing one of the local workers who drove the tractor in a bikini top (female, of course...lol..). That helped me distract myself from the boredom of loading hay all day.
Enjoyed your post. It's good to know how others have lived.
Funny. We have two pianos and not a soul in my family can play. Fortunately, one's an antique player piano and we just stick piano rolls into it and enjoy the sound.
Stephen – there is a six degree separation between of worlds. Both Southern and love to tell a good story. Old Richmond Academy is a marvelous place and being on the National Registry – it gets great care & upkeep. ARC just graduated its 225th class.
Great experience there with the great Secretariat, even if it was the clean-up end; just working around those wonderful old champion runners would be a treat.
I, too, am loving reading all the ‘first’ post… it ties the OS community together.
BoomerB… that is what I have been told, so I am not going to run out & buy one… just keep wishing I could play one.
it is an ad copy for the brand of suits called Raymond here, this is a man that is father, lover, worker, provider, producer, pal n dreamer all rolled into one nice balamced mix :)
You probobly already know this---but just in case---Jerry Butler is now a local plitician!
No, I didn't know Jerry was in politics... some city council member in Chicago? Guess he lives by the words of his song - "Only the Strong Survives"
thanks for stopping by...
