I don't know? We are what we eat. Teachers of wisdom teach the diversity of food plants have sustained humankind since we moved from the tooth and claw of the hunter-gatherer to the sooth and law of agriculture. This is the basis of all human life. We are what we eat. This is my 60th birthday party. The cut/paste photo cropped my mop of hair. I look like I had a thimble of honey wine? This is okay for a first try ... test.

The Stuff of Life: Carpentry.

By - The Laughing Jackass.

Pine Barrens were where The "Pineys" lived.  The New Jersey working class inhabited The Pine Barrens. New Jersey had the rapid growing  suburban industrial people. The industrial corridor was cluttered and very noisy.

Although New Jersey has the most heavily populated area of any state the place were the "Pineys" dwelt the land was quiet. It was almost wilderness. The worker class made moonshine and hid copper stills under boards in a livestock pen.

They were people who were often misunderstood ("The Pine Barrens" - by John McPhee) wrote of them...

These workers "used the fine eye, great ear and good heart."  I assume they could verily produce brews.

There was distinctive folklore, dreamlike quiet, and quality quiet  in contrast to the clutter noise of machinery.

They tapped pine trees that gave turpentine. The hewed wood, dovetailed furniture, and made with tiny copper nails those thin  as thick 'veneer' wooden - Shaker hat boxes.

I once made the entire stacking Shaker boxes set. I gave the prototype as a Gift. I was sad one day.

The Shaker Ovals were given to someone else. Obviously, that was one of the sad memories that remains.

I have wood molds. Walnut tops.

Some day later - I may make more.

Lory Laskey has a painting titled:`

REVOLT OF THE MASSES (1986)

A used carpenter hammer is nailed

The red-rusty nails stain the canvass

`

This is what happens when people get hit on the head too often. In the absence of international condemnation or ruthless and unrelenting oppression, revolts of the good masses of people is often considered.

There are Wars f Liberation. Some religious  sects use a "just war" theory. I suppose the degree of justness depends on the extent of the practical and better alternatives.

Nonviolent Resolution. I guess if one secular Mahatma Gandhi or  hillbilly (spiritual/secular - same-same) were handy, He/She might point out to the masses of better humanity - that they are not powerless to speak out.

Word bring connotations. It seem cleat to many people that we people can make Proclamations`

And in Good Conscience.

The only lasting peace is `

A Peace Through Justice.

`

Sad - Sigh. Philanthropic?

The quality nature in wars?

Barbarians are in their stead.

Peace people are hard to find.

They are around and speak up.

`

P.S.

Be careful in PA's, Waynesboro.

Banker jail you!

Elijah's son works with my son on the farm

Several weeks ago we at a hoop house learned

Elijah's son stole a Mennonite sign that read this

No fornicate. No chew. No smooch with folk who do

Grow leeks, peas, and let`us play a harmonica`go pee

I visited the roof of the World Trade Center once. What caught & captured my eye was not Manhattan's skyscraperscape but the New Jersey Pines. Gorgeous expanse.
Perhaps we are wrong and history is made by scoundrels.

Very nice piece Art. Thanks for the reference in your title. I'm really not worthy but appreciate it none the less. I've always loved the look, feel and smell of freshly made hand-crafted wooden furniture. I am thinking of turning a portion of my garage into my own little wood-shop to start learning how to make my own.

I hope Elijah's son didn't get into too much trouble. How could you not take a sign like that?! :)
Having been hit on the head one too many tines, I can relate!
~verily produced brews agitated by uncatchable believably beautiful witches who are sad sometimes...whose hexes are shaped like wooden vessels and cast upon the red hearts of canines and cuerpos humanos, somehow in equal measure, in any season.

I bet your haircut looks great.

The natural history museum in Lancaster, PA used to sponser day trips to the Jersey pine barrens--but not to gawk at the natives, I think. I enjoyed reading this.
Restoring antique furniture is tricky. You can ruin how much it is worth if you don't do your research first. I hope his business remains good and steady.
