Bio
Born in Denver, Colorado, 1950s-era capitol of the Beat scene, Gordon Hilgers was exiled to Dallas, Texas, in 1963, and Dallasites were so angry that another 9-year-old Democrat had entered the city that they killed Kennedy. From there, Gordon began writing poems and stories, eventually received a BA degree in newswriting, has written for The Dallas Morning News, despite the fact he was far too Liberal for the likes of William F. Murchison and John Birch, worked as an advocacy journalist and is partly responsible for the City of Dallas' public homeless shelter--where poor people can go to find jobs rather than getting told that because they've forgotten to embrace Jesus that God made them homeless.

ROMNEY DOESN’T LIKE REGULATION BUT WANTS TO BE THE BOSS?

Rate: 0 Flag

Having arguments with Teabillies and troglodytes has its advantages.  Most propitious is that we learn what talking points the airheads are mouthing.  And the latest one is that regulations are hurting business.

Just moments ago, an MSNBS anchorwoman interviewed a plucky, coy, coltish and perfectly pink little Republican representative who look like she just stepped-off the set of “Dynasty”.  She was pretty adamant in claiming she’s talked to workers all over the country who are “really concerned” that the EPA and OSHA are making it all-but-impossible for businesses to hire people.

Really?  You mean that following rules and laws is bad for business?  Honest Injun.  While I can see that, if a business is recklessly out-of-line with the law, and is cutting corners on both safety and environmental protection, that both the EPA and OSHA are going to make certain that these “juvenile delinquents” who own companies get back in line.  Yeah, it might cost money.

But holding the unemployed hostage?  This really needs a look, but the way the television media, linked at the hip with the commercial sector, treats this fake issue is so brief and such a sound byte oversight that no one gets any depth at all on how government regulation affects “business as usual”.

What’s worse is I’m sorry to report that Mitt Romney, who wants to be the nation’s leading enforcer of the law, doesn’t like laws.  Nope.  He doesn’t wanna follow the rules.  Those poor, little, itty-bitty billionaires who are so hard-pressed for money that they’ve stashed an estimated $224 trillion offshore just to avoid the law called taxation, need help.  Or else.

Or else they will continue to refuse to hire workers.  Who cares about worker safety anyway?  If a worker’s injured, according to this line of thinking, he or she can be easily replaced.  Yes!  Efficiency!  Profit!

No compassion or humanity at all.

Yup, according to the small government model, who really gives a crap whether global warming is real or not?  What’s important is what plutocrats can put in their pockets.  And right….  Plutocrats aren’t paying taxes while immensely profiting off the infrastructure and legal grid that allows them to profit so handsomely.

So.  Who’s the real parasites?  The working poor who can’t even get to a doctor because it’s too expensive and thus need the government to step-in and force selfish businesspeople to do the right thing and exercise their Grinch-sized hearts for a change?  Or is it the God Almighty plutocrat who is coasting in terms of contributing to the public good while taking advantage of the situation to the point that the top one percent now owns 40 percent of everything in America?

I choose the plutocrats.  Hell, the small government meme is just part of a much larger con-game Mitt Romney and his hordes of plutocratic bobble-heads are shoving at low information voters.

What in the devil is the point of small government anyway?  We’ve been hearing about how wonderful small government would be, but nobody defending the idea ever comes out and says it straight why we’re supposed to want small government?

Con game.  No regulations mean we’ve got Mad Max in a white collar.  Mitt Romney as Mad Max, riding in the back of a pick-up and brandishing an AR-15 while going AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHH!

In Romney-world, that’s progress.  Money?  That’s the moronic angel he worships.
