Two Commanders: Obama and MacArthur Once the initial obscenity of mentioning the two in the same sentence subsides, some amusing comparisons can be made. For example, MacArthur ended his final address to West Point cadets by saying, "The corps, the corps, the corps." Had he been informed by Obama's take on the English language, it would have come out, "The corpse, the corpse, the corpse," which would probably have made a different impression on the audience. The only characteristic shared by the two Supreme Commanders is a supreme ego, the difference being that the General's was based on a high intellect (we have HIS academic record) and a lifetime of heroic achievement, whereas as Obama's is shakily based on a demonstrably routine intelligence resulting in . . .
