Time for Ron Paulistas To Get Ayn Rand Real
OK, you’ve had your fun. You’ve reveled in Ron Paul’s clever contributions to the debates. You’ve celebrated the attention that the Ron Paul candidacy has brought to the radical capitalistic tenets of Ayn Rand. I’ve even heard some attempt to manipulate the delegate counts to claim that Ron Paul is on the verge of victory if only the evil MSM and not so MSM could be silenced. Silly.
Once the Republican convention is over and Romney secures the nomination that has obviously been his for months, there’s a question about whether the finally flattened Paulistas will, in accordance with basic Objectivist tenets, deal with reality or go off and sulk. The latter course might well lead to an Obama victory in the same way Ralph Nader did great damage in the past.
Let’s hope that anyone intelligent enough to support Ron Paul in the first place as an academic exercise will understand that the defeat of Obama is infinitely more important than how Ron Paul makes out. After all, Romney is a perfectly respectable candidate with definite pro-capitalistic leanings and record; Obama is an avowed collectivist hell bent on transforming America. Anyone who votes for Obama or decides to justify their efforts to promote Paul with a protest or no vote doesn’t deserve the title of conservative or Objectivist.
