Son of Poetry Contest

Rate: 3 Flag

Different poem--same prize: An electronic copy of my debut novel, Slipping on Stardust, which is doing astonishingly well on the Amazon ranking.

To win, you must fill in the two blanks below in order to capsulize the gist of the poem.

_____________ v. ___________________

The Silver Rose

A rose made of silver

A beauty, a dream

For in it lies falseness

It’s not what it seems

For it’s never felt earth

Nor has it giv’n birth

To roses around it

To prove its own worth

And yet some may say

Its beauty will stay

Long after the real one

Has withered away

This riddle bemuses

Whichever one chooses:

Eternal, but lifeless

Or vital, but only today
