A Simple Shutterbug, has given such an excellent open call. She asked to show our summer and what have we done in these 3 hot months, here in Greece to say the least, they were summer enough. To be honest, I am working on learning how to accomplish the dreamography project I have in mind, the Olympic games were the center theme of this summer, I am learning new recipes, but most of time is with music. The magical Greek music of the decades 1960 and 1970.
I am trying to learn the music history of my country and I am sharing with you some of the best musicians and singers. The first song is called ''One love for the summer'' and derives from the ''New Wave'' tradition, that combined romance, sentiments and reminds me of the time that life was a way for all of us to build the best creation that human can, true love. I grew up with music like this and believe me is worth both the listening and the dreaming that comes along.
"Οne love for the summer, will I be
To hold breeze in your hand, to kiss you
You will love me like a summer and like a child
but you will go with the wind and the rain.
One love for the summer I will be too
to keep you breeze in your hand, to kiss you
And when the summer will come and I will ask for you
there only be a star to look.''
Lyrics by George Ρaρastefanou, Music by George Sρanos, Singer Kaiti Chomata.
The second one called ''So many summers'' is one of my most favourites. The singing voice is so tense, the lyrics like describing the untold heart motivations, saying all that all want to say, but we do not dare. Music is literature, to me a form of poetry and this era of Greek music, gives some of the best feelings and thinkings of my country. Listen to Greek music, is trully great!!
"You have crossed so many rains to come to me
bringing me in your hands light to feel.
I have had so many lifes just to find you
and in your warm hug to hide.
So many summers, all lost from my hands,
So many summers that I did not love you
I was asking what is wrong
for my burning heart
now I know it was your kiss I wanted
You have opened your arms
and summers came back
and they bring me close to you,
I want you, I want you, I love you''
Lyrics by Lefteris Ρapadopoulos, Music by Mimis Ρlessas, Singer Dakis, originally in the movie by John Dalianidis 'Gorgones and Mages'' (1968 Mermaids and Gentlemen'')
And I have just seen that when the song videos come to the end, there are so many more, with original greek songs, and parts from greek movies with music also. Do take the time both to listen and watch, there are so many beautiful scenes from summer here in Greece, like in this song called " One Morning'', one of the most famous here, with lyrics by George Ρapastefanou, music by Stauros Xarhakos, singer Maria Dimitriadi.
****************
Ρlease excuse my mistakes in the translation, but when listening it is a true traveling. Summer, music are universal languages, as love is, and I think that sometimes words, even insult feelings. But in this case these lyrics are true poetry, made by some of the most known Greek creators. I wish you like this musical summer. As an answer to the 6th Gallery Challenge, I have also blogged about my summer in my work ''Summerland'', full of images, but this calling trully made me think...
"What did I create in the 3 summer months? '' and I must say this calling gave me a good motivational and reality awakening. To be honest, to what I could say that made me more proud for myself this summer, is this little widget that I have placed in my website, and I like it so much, like a child. So I share it with all of you here, and it is the one image slide show on the top of my blog.

As for my image, is made by a simple flower garden, I do not even know the name of the flower, but I love the colours, the contradictions, the mystery, and most of all nature. It is called ''Garden'', and derives from the true love I have for gardens and for flowers.
Thank you, A simple Shutterbug, for the inspiration and the opportunity you gave me to share with all of you my summer in Greece.
Be well, and let us all wish a farewell to summer!!

The music and your photography (as always) are great!
The second song sounds to me like something Gene Pitney would sing.

a summer would not be complete without music from Greece
‘60s and ‘70s style (the flower generation for you?);
note: a reminder to hit end of summer record fairs for LPs,
especially greek music of the period;
and a summer would not be complete without
a chance to make love under the influence
of high humidity,
of a red-gold sunset, and
of a lute.
note: how true that love, summer, and music are universal!
Very pleasant to have experienced this here!

Perhaps i overidealize our little site, os...for me it is a way

The "time" being...now!
Thanks to this miraculous Internet.

So many thanks for sharing your music.
One of my dead white European philosopher buddies,
Schopenhauer, said
"Music is an immediate expression of will, the basic reality of the experienced world. "

By the way, now that I've read many of your posts I hear a different rhythm in your English, your writing has become musical in itself to me. I wonder if I spoke Greek how it would sound to you, would it be choppy and precise or more musical as I searched for a way to express my thoughts to you.
Your beautiful photos always make me smile inside.
Your first photo seems to lead the viewer right into the heart of the garden.
Thanks for PMing me and telling me to come and visit
